They'll trade out of the first round.

I'll bet a dozen flies they don't. :)

I dont see that happening this time around. Teams don't make trades like this to then turn around and trade out of the first round, giving up that potential 5th year option, which would be important especially if they had their eyes on a QB.

Very possible. But no trade clauses don't exist simply because a player wants to stay somewhere forever. They exist to give big name players leverage on where they go if they do want to leave.

My point was that Russ has been saying all along he wanted to stay. Hawks have been saying they don't want to trade him. So someone was lying. Either it was Russ and he forced the issue (hes had a list of teams he'd be willing to go to for a couple years or more if he was to be traded) , or John and Pete truly didn't want to pay him and this was an opportunity to make the most out of it.

Either way, what both sides have been saying in the media does not match up with what actually happened, so at this point I have a hard time trusting reports of any he said/she said shit.

At least I'll have an excuse to watch day 1 of the draft this year!
I don't trust Russ's perfectly planned public persona one bit. He always says what the public wants to hear, and always has. He was groomed by his father from a very young age to be a PR machine. It's always been that Russ will be a smiling, perfect person when on the mic or camera, while the business side was quiet.

This was honestly likely pretty mutual. The Hawks could ride him for one more year with a chance of Russ signing elsewhere after his contract, seeing what he gets on the open market while the Hawks get nothing, or get a modest haul for him now.

I know I'm in the minority on my feelings overall, but I need to stay consistent with my being highly critical of both Wilson and PC/JS the last several years.

He's better than Goff...
So he's got that going for him.

Stafford might soon be the longest tenured NFC West quarterback. Jimmy G gone soon. Murray might gone too, Cardinals don't want to pay him. The champion LA RAMS are quite the disruptors!

Also the oldest by what, 10 years? Still got beat by the Niners twice last year, barely beat a lame winged JG in the playoffs. I like our odds this year.

Lock won't be the guy for the Hawks moving forward. I'd be surprised if Smith is back.
There are some other guys I'd rather see have an opportunity then those two guys.

Former second overall pick Turbisky is a free agent and might have learned some things playing behind Josh Allen and under Daboll.
Though not great in Chicago, he was 29-21 as a starter and I think made the playoffs one year.
Might be worth a shot on a one year deal if he'd accept that as an opportunity to be a starter. He might possibly kind of revive his career similar to what Tannehill has done in Tennessee.
They could likely do worse.......and likely will.

Did you miss the NFC Championship game last January??

After San Francisco fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, there was a clear sense from general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan that the 2022 roster will look a lot different with 33 players set for some form of free agency.

We package Lockett and Lock and 2nd rnd. pick for somebody, draft a qb, dump Geno and pick up some loser for backup till we get our draft pick.
Problem is, not a good qb draft.
Or.....
0-17 forever then...that's it...we're doomed...
Lol
