Apparently I'm a spammer

Joined a fly fishing forum dedicated to spey rods and fishing last week. One day later received an email saying I was banned for spamming. Was seriously interested in buying a few things on their classified section but I have to wait until my 'ban protest' has been analyzed and hopefully I get a clean bill of health(spam?). I get it, the net is a treasure-trove inside a cess-pool of vermin -- maybe my account was hacked, but it wasn't due to lack of password complexity. If my password manager was hacked then I suspect I'd see other suspicious things going on.

On SS you have to have a certain amount of posts to sell or buy, look at the classifieds requirements for details.

It's really is only to protect it's members from the hundreds of scammers out there!

These internet-based bans are getting out of hand!!!! .making you prove your identity with a full ID CARD upon membership!!!! Social security number!! Otherwise banned!!! Getting out of hand with these bans

With the amount of posts you have had here in the last couple of days , you would be a spammer there.

Just saying....

Sounds like you got caught up in the crosshairs, but there has been a lot of scammers there over the last year.

I do applaud their efforts to keep it a discussion board and not a gear selling site. A lot of people sign up, throw down the requisite amount of posts just to sell gear. Maybe you fall into that category?

If anyone wonders why we have the supporter requirement for our classifieds - this here is #1.

Nope, I do buy gear here, but only for my personal use and maybe 10 pieces a year. I think it's been over a year since I sold anything. I donate old gear now to a local veterans charity so I don't think I'll be selling much anymore.

My activity on the 'two handed rod' site would be the same as here; lots of boring/corny posts about fishing and life and a few purchases of gear. Maybe they've read my attempts at humor on this site and are trying to make it hard for me to join their clan. I wouldn't blame them.

If you are going to hang out there you need to remember a few things. 1. It's not a fly but a flee. 2. It's not a hook but a platform or an iron. 3. You don't replicate a good idea. You pinch it. Any divergence from these established protocols will only accentuate your plebeian lineage.

...and you need to be able to describe every nanosecond of whichever spey cast you perform.
