Someone tell me why this makes any sense at all. I've seen some... interesting... solutions looking for a problem in this sport, but this one is on a whole other level.

But I'll keep my mind open if anyone has an explanation.

Sam's remark about introducing line twist was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the photo.

Jared, is it really a lighter set up? The smaller fly reels these days are so light it's difficult to see them contributing to fatigue.

Someone wanted to make a lighter euro setup. It’s not entirely without merit, because arm fatigue is an issue for some people.
I mean, shaving an ounce off really going to help with that? If anything I could see it making it worse since you now have a tip-heavy setup.

Someone thought they had a good idea and all his friends were too afraid to tell him it was shit, so he YOLO'd his life savings into a new company founded on a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
I've seen this a couple times in this industry. I feel bad enough for a few of them that I can't even bring myself to point them out on here.

Arm fatigue...🙄

Back in the day it was called being a pussy, a noodle armed out of shape pussy. Now of course, the problem lies with the gear, and not the lame ass who can't hold a 5 oz. rod for an afternoon.
😁

Tell me you never euro without telling me you never euro.

It’s not the weight of the rod. It’s the fact that you’re holding your arm up and out all day. Most people will struggle with the fatigue at first. Throw a rotator injury into the mix and you have a compelling reason for this product to exist.

The plastic one seems to be 1.4oz, so it’s 3.5oz lighter than the reel I use (28% of the weight). It’s not insignificant, when you’re holding it up and out all day.

It would make the outfit tip heavy, which puts more load on the fingers and wrist. More importantly though, it eliminates the option of using a regular fly line.

I’m sure some people with shoulder problems would benefit from this product, but it’s not a general purpose thing. Using a longer rod probably works better, most of the time.

Being lighter set up is one thing, but if your rod becomes tip heavy, wouldn’t you want the extra weight of the reel to balance it out? I would think a balanced rod and reel would provide less fatigue than just being light. That seems like it would introduce a different fatigue on the wrist being tip heavy.
