Need new shoes for my Suburban, and as apparently Michelin doesn't make their Cross Climate 2 tires in the needed size, suggestions for a four season truck tire than can handle snow and ice?

Vredestein Pinza AT rated #1 by TireRack, Les Schwab is also carrying them. I bought 4 for the Tundra and very quiet for a 10 ply rated tire. In my size they were several hundred dollars less than comparable brands. I’m extremely happy with them.check the reviews/comparisons on TireRack.

My post from March 2023 regarding the Vredestein Pinzas:

Just got the Vredestein Pinza AT to replace the OEM Michelin LTX that were due for replacement at 42K and exactly 6 years.
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/vredestein-pinza-at
Rated #1 out of 34 AT tires tested by TireRack customers.
$251 each at Tire Rack, $120 to mount, Hunter Road Force balance, etc at local TR installer. $250 less than Les Schwab. No one else in California carries them.
I wanted a LT tire in OEM size (275/65-18) with the Mountain snowlflake rating, don’t want noisy, aggressive treads. Need protection from sharp rocks on off highway driving and occasional driving in snow and icy conditions in California Sierras and logging roads in Canada.
Vredestein has been making tires in Europe for over 100 years, very well regarded tires there, I’ve had them on sports cars since 1971. These are their first venture in North American truck market.
Initial impressions are: Firmer than OEM on rough pavement, but not objectionably so, no discernible difference in ride on freeway. As quiet as the Michelins which surprised me.
Will update as I add miles.

I have only put 6K miles on the tires but very pleased with noise and comfort for an LT rated tire. Only got into snow and ice once and they were markedly better that the OEM Michelins.

Same set of priorities for the Xterra, I went with the Firestone Destination and am more than happy after maybe 3 seasons. Will replace with same. (Steve, make sure you keep the Husky sticker!)IMG_3476.jpeg

Here’s the rear tires going on my 51 Chev Hotrod……they’d look awesome on your Suburban!

those should hook up! How about a pic of your rod, fan of them myself.
My mother loved fast cars and had some great iron, my personal fave her bronze 53' Mercury two door flathead in which she'd lay down stripes with little encouragement from us kids...lol

hoping you didn't pay a lot for that hot rod as it seems to be missing some vital parts.
unless that is how your neighborhood thugs strip down cars these days.....

just joking. totally cool car.

and as for tire recommendation: I really like the BFGoodrich TA's

Everybody has their own opinion, but I use Michelin Defender on my Tacoma. My first set went about 90,000 miles and the second set seems to be wearing about the same. One really good thing about them is that they are "resistant" to puncture. I often drive on dirt/logging roads here in New England where shale and granite shards seem to jump at your tires and try to kill them. I keep a compressor and repair kit in the truck and so far, have not have to use it.

Same on my Tacoma and now on my 2021 Tundra.

See recent thread where I have made the proclaim that with trucks it's Big Wheels Go Farther. Thereupon I recommend big tires on a truck!

My used Ford came with Hankook AT, snowflake rated.
Does well in snow, ice. Secure, stable.
Well when dry or rain.
I plan to buy again.

BFG All Terrains for me, I run them on my Silverado pickup and even in a smaller size on my Subaru Crosstrek.

I put Sumitomo Encounter AT tires on my Supercrew 4x4 F150 about a year ago and they've been outstanding. Crazy good wet traction even when I punch it to pull out into traffic. They were great in the snow last winter as well.
Discount Tire carries them, but here is the link to Tire Rack. They get very good marks, especially given the price.

Good luck!

If you want a little offroad ability… Falken Wildpeak At3
I have the excellent Falken Wildpeak AT3W's on the Casa, they have now been superseded by the AT4W model, among the top 3 rated all terrain tires for trucks out there. They do well in snow here on the tundra and are wearing very well also. I doubt that I will live long enough to wear them out, the truck is going on 11 years old and just turned 47,000 miles.
