Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

Hey there (username SuperDuper-dz9re on YouTube), it's clear our perspectives don't align. My channel is about sharing my passion for fly fishing and helping others enjoy the sport. I welcome constructive criticism, but it's become clear that your comments are not coming from a productive place, in fact, they can be described as low in character, and harassing (users that make comments like yours are known as a 'YouTube trolls' in the creator world). As a result, I'm going to block you from commenting on the channel and I deleted your recent comment on my roll cast vid (disgusting was my families first reaction when reading it). I wish you the best in finding content that resonates more with you, but please - unfollow me. Cheers and FISH-ON!!
Swimmy is that you?

He constantly makes it a point to get fish on the reel whenever possible/needed, there is no need to put a 12” trout on the reel. And he can easily cast to the backing without tailing loops, I’d say he casts very well. If he hotspots in his videos you guys get mad, and if he doesn’t, you do it for him? 😆
Thanks for having my back...and I was thinking about the same thing! I didn't name one of the fisheries I landed that monster trout, but then the guy complaining did...Lol

@FlyFishDan You should stick around and be social with us members. We are self funded so please stay and have a drink.

Hey @FlyFishDan (assuming this is you and not Dan's mom coming to his defense) I'd like to say welcome to forum! Ive seen some of your videos, and they are fine. Sorry you got shot at!
If my mom was still with us, she would have totally jumped in to defend me...Lol. I had to join when one of your users mentioned in a recent YouTube comment (which I had to delete due to just being horrible) to see how badly I am perceived on this forum (he also mentioned that people HATED me here...Lol_. Looks like the only guy in the hater's column, is him. All good! I've yet to return to the river I nearly took a bullet on...but plan to :))

Cool as shit that @FlyFishDan dropped in on a thread completely bangin' on him! Good for you! Honestly, I've got no problem with his channel (got some great content)...except a 6wt for tiger muskies? that's just silly....

I just looked at his Facebook page.. seems like the Billy Maze of oxyclean fame..

I dunno about Sage. He seems pretty tied into that ffp rod company.. also never heard of them...
I've been a Sage fan since...well...since the Sage DS (my first fly rod I purchased myself at the Morning Hatch Fly Shop in Tacoma WA). The FFD Rod Company is my own business and line of fly rods. I partnered with two local fly rod builders to build a rod that was fully custom, made here in the USA, completely handcrafted and affordable. I've sold fly rods all around the U.S and the world. Pretty cool (and humbling).

Thanks! I had to check in to see what was really up - Lol. Looks like a group full of other passionate fly fishers and I'm glad to be here. Honestly?? I was fishing with the 6wt because I forgot my eight at home...then I hooked into a monster muskie and it drug me into shore. Now I fish exclusively with an 8/9wt and keep one exclusive at the trailer :))

Just another YouTube pimp. I think the world would be a better place with more of the OMJ "figure it out your own damn self" and less "HERE'S AN AWESOME PLACE Y'ALL GOTTA GO!!!!!"
For the record...I started my channel to spread a little positivity in the world, then it evolved to teaching people without judgement, then it evolved to supporting and promoting family-owned companies (Dryft, Hellbender, Cortland, O'Pros, local fly shops, etc). All the while creating content for people to consume for FREE. I no longer name the fisheries I fish either, so there's that too...

In all seriousness, I dunno how some of y'all do it video taping a bunch of your outings, then editing, then posting. I have enough issues just taking a pic or two on occasion....shoot, I'll go entire trips without taking a single photo of a fish (in spite of plenty caught).

I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to FFD. Not interested in his videos, but I don't blame anyone for trying to get their piece of the pie, even if I think it's cheesy as hell. He's an expert at being an expert, and that's a pretty common thing in today's society. Whatever, to each their own.

I will say I don't understand the desire to "put a fish on the reel". Just the term itself doesn't make a lot of sense to me. "Putting a fish on the reel" kinda implies that I'm to make an extra effort to reel in a bunch of slack line so I can then reel it in. I say any fish that needs to be on the reel will get there itself, and for everything else Id rather strip it in and land it quickly rather than waste time reeling in a bunch of line while trying to stay tight to it. The amount of fish I see lost because someone is mucking about trying to get it on the reel is absurd.

And for the life of me I can't imagine why someone would think an Orvis reel is inferior to a Sage, Lamson or Ross. My Orvis reels have endured constant abuse and they just keep on ticking. It's pretty tough to buy a bad fly reel these days, as just about everyone makes a quality product. Everyone has had reels that had issues, but I wouldn't hesitate to take any of those reels offshore tomorrow.
I am not an expert, nor have I ever claimed to be. People follow me because I teach in a 'layman's' style without judgement. There's no perfect way to fly fish, or cast a fly rod...for me, it's inspiring others to get out and enjoy the sport. Furthermore, the content I provide comes to everyone willing to watch, for free.

one of his recent videos at crab creek he was talking about how he loves his classic sage rod and its so amazing the the dude put an orvis reel on it...... cringe. at least give that thing a lamson, ross, or sage reel. thats like wearing nike shoes and shirt with addidas striped pants
A classic (Sage TCR) paired with another classic (Orvis Battenkill large arbor)...there's nothing cooler than that. And what's this 'crab creek' place you mentioned?! Lol

Nah, I'm just Dan...a guy that fly fishes. The FFD Rod Company is my own business, building custom fly rods using locally sourced components by local rod builders.
