I guess because I bought a license I just received a WDFW email encouraging my entry in this years phenomenal trout derby. I mean there are outstanding prizes such as "Trampoline Park Passes." Is that really the essence of fishing and what it has become in our fine state. Catch a tagged pellet head and win a prize. For one thin dime, one tenth of a dollar. Watch the monkey climb the pole. I feel sorry for the wannabe young sportsmen who are left to believe that this is a path forward to enjoying a great pursuit and what can be a lifetime adventure. It was with a touch of pride, however, to find that of the 108 lakes that these brain dead excuses for trout are rehoused for a short while, none of those bodies of water are in the county where I live. Apparently here you can take a kid fishing without telling him (or her) that they are trying to win a prize. Time on the water should be the real prize. Rant over.

Edit: And the other thing that chaps my butt is I can't watch the M's game without giving money to Apple or Fublo whatever that is.

Welcome to Friday nights watching the Mariners. You do have other options: MLB.TV or seeing it in person (in Anaheim).

For me ---> I am resigned to listening to it on SeattleSports.com

Here’s a portion of a job duty for a new well paying WDFW job-
  • Engage all levels of management, staff, the PEAR Team, and external partners to be inclusive of the diverse staff within the Agency, including ….., staff, staff with …., …….members, and those who do not hunt, fish, or participate in wildlife-related recreation
Things are changing…

We have lake Leland and Tarboo that are fairly close if you're really itching for a chance at those passes.

They offer prize money too. ;)

Met quite a few locals that are pretty into it and appreciate an easily caught dinner with a chance at a lottery.

One of the lessor fails of the WDFW...imo.

Weird, I get the impression based on their actions that WDFW doesn't want people fishing at all.

I'm with you on this one. It's not worth the 'price of admission' to pay for it on tv for the few times I might take the time to watch a game.

Get a cheater box and wifi.

Never pay for cable/tv again.

I haven't seen a Mariners game all year even though I have MLB TV. Despite being a 7 or 8 hour drive from Seattle all M's games are blacked out over here. Normally it doesn't matter because I haven't watched their games since Dave Niehaus died anyway but recently when they were swept by the Dodgers I was really pissed that I couldn't watch the Dodgers because of the lowly M's.

I didn't know you are a Dodgers fan.

It’s what a whole lot of people seem to want. Look at the number of people who go out for things like the Everett salmon derby. I always make a note of when it is on my calendar - just so I know to not fish that day!
