What's in your vise?

Getting a (late) start on a fall beach coho fly box. These ones are 3” long on #4 Daiichi hooks, with 5/32” real eyez. Pearl diamond braid body with the red thread hotspot. Then starting at the bottom I’ve got:

UV Minnow Belly
Pink bucktail
Chartreuse bucktail
“Baitfish” Angel Hair

Works as a general attractor or just in case I run into any Hecubas.

hook - WFC Model 28 #12
thread - SemerFli 8/0 tan
core - 7lb mono
underbody - bleached moose body hair
body/head - 1mm foam tan

Continuing the Fall Coho Beach box, I got one row of the "Bozo" color combo and started on a row of a more natural / subtle color combo.

Same hook and eyes as before but using silver diamond braid and the wing is UV Minnow Belly, white bucktail, silver Krystal Flash, dark olive bucktail topped with the same baitfish Angel Hair.

My plan is once I get these two rows of traditional hook flies, I'll do the same color patterns as trailer hook shanks.Olive over white clouser.jpgFall Coho Box in work.jpg

Trying out a new piece of deer hair which is proving to be inappropriate for this application; spins okay but the tips are way too stalky for flies this size. And, yes, I need the indicator. Even with the white wing, these flies disappear as soon as they hit the water; a testament to my (lack of) casting skills.

hook - WFC Model 28 #12
thread - SemerFli 8/0 tan
core - 9lb mono
underbody - bleached moose body hair
body/head - 1mm foam tan
wing - Congo hair white
indicator - 1mm foam orange
collar/head - deer hair

Just finished up my first donation to the 2025 MGTU Fundraising Banquet next February. Took about two months to pull it together. Next patch will be a saltwater flats selection.
