Any Thousand Trails members out there?

We had inherited a membership from my wife's folks and used to camp quite a bit, especially when I was racing, but we have not used it in several years. Now that the boys are getting of age we're looking to go more again. Crescent Bar is about 3 hours and Little Diamond near Spokane at 3-3.5 hours, were the ones we used most, and Leavenworth. Paradise is an option, but a bit farther. Now that I'm fishing more than I did then I'm noting some good fishing opportunities. Not looking for hotspots, but just reaching out to see if there are others who have a membership and use the campgrounds as a fishing base?

I've always been genuinely curious if Thousand Trails, KOA etc were legit or just a bunch of crowded junk campsites in boring locations.

It's not really wild camping, pools, hot tubs, lodge with snacks and activities. Each location is different. Leavenworth is more camping like sites, cresent bar is kinda side by side in the open. Great as a base though. We had great trips to the oregon and washington coasts. We had a class B, pulled a car so we could go tourist, or whatever. Often bike races, or things like my sons Ampgard, were close too. We're actually looking for a small trailer now, got rid of that V10, it got 4 1/2 MPG through the gorge one trip west.

We have friends doing the RV living thing and they are bouncing between 1000 trails grounds. They seem somewhat hit or miss in terms of quality. They do stay at one in La Conner, which if you've never been can be an excellent vacation with awesome beach/river/lake fishing nearby depending on time of year. Miles of beach, pass lake, the Skagit, the samish, etc.... and they seem to prefer the amenities of this campground to some of the others

La conner has some great food and cool history as well for non fishing family members. Fishing wise I'd say early fall is the time all those options present themselves as actual opportunities.

But it's a timeshare sort of thing, right? Like, you have to buy the "membership" and then pay $X in dues each year?

Can non-members stay at any of the campgrounds ever? Or is that totally locked down for members?

They are timeshares. Certainly not for everybody, nor am I promoting. We inherited ours and have an old account with really good benefits. So we did not pay for the original "investment", as they might call it. But for us, with our dues now frozen at about $600, it's not bad, what, a week in a hotel. And we can be in 21 days at a stretch, which will be nice for something like a winter vegas trip.
I do believe that they now have a camping pass program, but really I don't know much.

Prior to my grandparents passing they were longtime members of Thousand Trails. They were snow birds, spending their winters at their house in Yuma and the rest of the year living out of their RV up in the NW. Spent a lot of time at various Thousand Trails campgrounds with them while growing up.

Have no idea about associated costs, or what the various campgrounds are like these days, but always enjoyed hanging out in them as a youngster. Spent a lot of time at the La Conner site and always really enjoyed that one. I must have played a thousand games of put put golf their growing up.

Speaking of Crescent Bar, when is the timeline for them to dismantle everything on the island?
I'm not sure of the status down on the island. Since my aunt and uncle don't have a place down on the golf course anymore I have not paid attention. The place has sure changed a lot. Kinda seems like sunriver type condo land now.

Tom, the condos on the left side of the road are on private deeded land and not part of the fubar on the right.
I found some articles, what a mess. The waterside project boundary is actually the west line of TT by the trail, so no issue to this property as far as I can tell.

My ex inlaws had a TT membership. I know they ended up selling their membership. Can't remember if they found a buyer or TT sold it for them.

I should add I didn't mind going there when they had it. Just wasn't my thing.
I don't think a group of fly fishers is their target audience. My wife's from that nitch of comfort "camping" enthusiasts, and the kids enjoyed it, so when in Rome...

I'm way more then a fly Fisherman. Gear, I hunt, whitewater, etc. Just when I want to camp I like it to be rural and rustic. Plus my cabin was cheaper than buying the TT membership.
