Took a short walk to a popular Mt Baker Lake today. I fished a Phillipson 8'6" 5 weight. My friend Doug fished an 8' 5 weight built on Don Anderson's favorite taper. You can fish this lake from shore.

We found some small brookies hanging around the inlet streams. Had to size down to 2 lb test and size 16 wet flies to start connecting. A black gnat or black and blae wet fly worked the best.

Next time I'll bring my 6'9" constable 4 weight or Granger 8040 and also take some time to fish the lake's outlet. Fish were rising there.

Used to fish quite a few of the alpine lakes on the way up to baker. They started getting discovered and it was no longer us setting up camp. Whith what Washington did with the discovery pass sh$& hope you can still research some good lakes to fish

This little lake gets a steady stream of hikers but we were the only people fishing the lake. Very few hikers seem to want to fish.
