Port Angeles Aug 1...suggestions?

Hey,

I'll be on a family trip to Angeles on Aug 1st staying at the Elwha RV Park. Any tips or suggestions for possible fishing?

Beaches outside the hook and Elwha mouth zone for salmon. Beardslee to the west. Blue lines to the south w/ a couple high lakes.

I can’t recommend a guided float on the Duc for SRC and summer coho enough. Such an awesome fishery.

Thanks to Creatch'r's (sp?) advice I met up with guide Terry Stevenson in Forks, and we floated The Bogey targeting summer steelehead. The rivers are low and clear.

Terry had me swinging and stripping with a dry line but not many fish were spotted. Got some small (but pretty) cutts but no steelies. In one of the deeper holes he recommended I switch to a sink tip and strip through the slow water. A couple cast later got a solid grab and a strong fight. A big jump revealed a fine fat summer chinook... plus I squealed like a school kid!

So, my only big fish of the day was a real treat...



Kudos to Terry and I hope to get back out there someday and fish with him again.
