Rare vintage 'boo outfit? Or worthless beach rental decor?

Assuming the latter, but figured somebody here might find it interesting, if nothing else.

This is a French fly reel. The brand is Maginot and it is a multiplier.
Yup...still have one from childhood. Pristine because no flyreel I've owned had as shitty a drag setting or ability to freewheel birdsnest like that SOB. A veritable Citroen of flyreels.

it's still got some ancient 3M SA DT floating line on its tiny arbor.

Sounds like confirmation of worthless vacay rental decor status ("worthless" from a fishing utility or collector value standpoint).

Thanks all for the vintage fly gear edumication.

Here’s mine! Forgot where I got it, probably at a garage sale or something. Very interesting reel.

The amazing thing on this citroen video is how universal the positive comments are :D, this boggles my mind.

Hah! That's classic Citroen, solving "problems" that nobody else thinks are problems. Remember when they made the headlights that turned with the steering wheel?
