Loon killer on the loose @&+)$!?

There names are Ginger and Dan Poleshook. We (Tonasket-Oroville) had the good fortune of having these two speak some years ago at our local CCC.
I believe they reside at Loon Lake, Stevens County...which, paradoxically, hasn't had nesting loons for decades...too developed.

It is scant consolation, but we all know that individuals that commit these atrocities live their miserable ignorant shitty f*ked-up lives as a sort of built-in karma. It never ends well for them....since such behavior doesn't exist in isolation.

That is beyond disgusting .

I agree. I'm a pro second amendment guy but I would say a crime like this should come with a firearm ban for the folks that did this. They have proven by their actions they are not mentally capable of having said right and exercising it with any remote responsibility.

Stuff like this really pisses me off. It's a simple set of rules really. One, never point a gun at anything you are unwilling to destroy. And two don't kill anything if you aren't going to eat it.

Could be kids being juveniles.
Could also be a fly fishermen not liking the competition.

So fecking stoopid…they are amazing birds and hearing their calls at the end of the day makes it special to me as I don’t get into the wilds too much. There was one calling at Chopaka this May for a couple of days and it shut up camp. We just sat and listened for a while , it was great. I hope they get the bastard.

This isn't some fisherman upset about the competition...it's just some asshole joy-killing.

It really can't be 'rationalized' in any way, shape, or form.

Either way...should the person(s) be identified they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

There's a reasonable chance that a fellow dirtbag will rat him out for a reward...since there's no honor among dirtbags.

This will in all likelihood go unpunished. You briefly parking without the proper discover or other pass will likely not

It won't go unpunished if they can catch the a-hole.

I've sat in court for enough game crime cases and seen enough "sentences" delivered to have little faith. I sat in on some of these cases because they were so flagrantly egregious. The sentences were pretty light given the nature of the crimes and history of the defendants.

Well, that sucks! I hope they catch this guy and throw the book at him!

I just googled "underwater footage of Loons"......I'm here to tell ya. We see these birds as they float on the surface, but they are absolutely magnificent swimmers. Some of the you tube videos are quite remarkable...... But what interests me most about this thread is the "bounty" of $6,000. In a small rural community, that would be likely to make the shooter a bit nervous...I like that. "underwater footage of Loons" is a worthy google search.

I would ultimately like them caught and have a punishment that is fitting as well as meaningful for said crime. I think a firearm ban for a length of time at a minimum should be one of items in that punishment. I also think the state should get a bit of free labor out of them on some restoration projects. I don't want just the labour. I want them to mix with folks that care about wildlife and perhaps it can rub off. I further think some confiscation is in order of the firearm in question and perhaps whatever else used in this senseless poaching case. This person essentially stole from the people of the state. Cases like these tend to remind me that as an angler I'm not the only stakeholder in angling resources. The same goes for this incident. I'm an appreciator of wildlife and wild places. The indiscriminate killing for no reason is a crime against everyone who is also an appreciator of wildlife. Lastly, I just really hate assholes that kill things for no reason. That's a moral a father should teach young. And if you don't have a father to teach you the internal compass of morality within yourself should tell you that. A loon is literally a decoration of nature. A peculiar expression of evolution and beautiful with a haunting call that is coincident with water in unspoiled places. It takes a special form of asshole to want to shoot one.
