Exactly. And millions of Ukrainians HAVE been murdered and starved to death by Russia in the past 90 years. Every Ukrainian remembers that because they all grew up hearing about it from their families if they didn't directly experience it.

They consider that horrific bodycount a running tally, and Putin is now adding to it.

Russia: "Hello, Ukraine? It's us again. Remember how we killed your grandpa and raped your grandma? And how we starved all your aunts and uncles to death? And how we stole their land and killed all their farm animals so they had no way to feed themselves? Remember that?"
Ukraine: "Yes. We remember."
Russia: "And remember how we came back later, and took over again, and then killed your dad and raped your mother? And made all your aunts and uncles work for starvation wages in our factories? And how we beat them senseless when they tried to speak Ukrainian or practice their religion secretly in their basements?"
Ukraine: "Yes. We remember."
Russia: "Those were great days, weren't they? We really didn't like it when you left our warm embrace thirty years ago. We didn't like it at all when you decided to hold elections and behave democratically. We know what is best for you...and we have decided you are part of our family. And we think we should be reunited. So we're coming to reunite you with us. And if you resist, we are going to kill you too."

The world has a choice. Stand by and watch it happen again, or do something bold to stop it.
Getting shot in the back of the head for stealing mother Russia's wheat (picking up fallen grains in the field or starve) might be a motivating factor here.

It's clear, the so called 'rules of war', an oxymoron if there ever was one, aren't going to be an issue for Putin.
The cluster bombs I read about yesterday are probably just the start of things.
Putin is going to either ratchet things up to 11, or be mocked for his ineptitude worldwide in all forms of media.
I think we know what his choice will be.

My wife and I support the World Central Kitchen started by chef Jose Andres…they are currently at the border of Poland & Ukraine feeding thousands of refugees fleeing Ukraine…food for thought if you are compelled to help in some way…

He is amazing doing great work in Haiti, Puerto Rico, here at home Displaced Camp fire Paradise CA residents, first responders) and other places in need, did not surprise me when this popped up - the wife and I are also supporters - from what I can tell, a very reputable organization where most of your money will go to delivering services; score 100 on Charity Navigator.

A 40 mile long convoy of Russian military vehicles and supplies stalled near Kyiv? If it is attacked successfully... Teutoberg Forest part 2.

😞 I'm sorry, but that term is thrown around too loosely. As bad as Putin is, he has not directed the slaughter of 11 million Jews and POWs.
Even that pales compared to Stalin's 20 million, of his own people!
If you think about it there were more during our lives in the 20th century
. This world can be a terrible place. 😢
Yet.
Actually the similarities are too stark to ignore. A blitzkrieg type of invasion of a much weaker country that was unprovoked with the underlying threat to all of the neighboring nations. Hitler didn't kill 11 million Jews and POW's in the first two weeks of the war either. He ramped up a death industry over the years. Again we seem to be failing to learn the lessons of the past.
@iveofione Thank You for helping me understand your comment.

Fuel Air Explosives are being used on civilian targets...this is a war crime. I was at first opposed to NATO stepping in, as I believe Putin is cold and callous enough to deploy limited nuclear weapon strikes as a last resort scorched earth policy (If I can't have you, no one can)...I now think it may be time to fill the skies above Ukraine with Predators armed with Hellfire missiles and Apache choppers and remove the armored columns and missile launchers...they should be painted with the Ukranian colors and "lent" to the Ukrainian forces...

I think we are at a point where a united and stronger response is necessary. While it is true violence begets more violence it is also true that the only language a bully understands is the one they traffic in. A bully not confronted by a strong individual or mob grows in strength. As far as nukes etc, yes a terrifying prospect. An equally terrifying prospect is allowing a bully to have his way again and again. This emboldens them and grows their strength and even support. Putin needs to be singled out and extinguished. The alternative is simply far too costly in the long run. World leaders need to show strength and unity against a common foe and the time is now or past.

The national anthem really encapsulates the Ukrainian survival mentality: .

This opinion piece, in my opinion, also shows why they will never give up: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/feb/28/vladimir-putin-war-russia-ukraine

Then I say to the Ukrainians .. drop this Russian band of Brothers where they stand and send them back to Moscow in pieces..
Moscow invasion of Ukraine makes their military brotherhood meaningless.
not to them rob. most ordinary people believe that they are right. their group, their family, their politics, their country, their cause, their code, their creed, theology, etc. by sitting on the bema and prounouncing that you r e a l l y r e a l l y know better, you're only doing the same thing. as you know, there are some key proverbs about this.

Can't help but wonder if Putin does not occasionally harbor fleeting thoughts that maybe this whole Ukraine thing might not have been the best idea before retreating into that embattled caged animal mindset, that he is being ostracized for political reasons and that the result of his whole beautiful war is being stolen from him.

I have to wonder how many Russian soldiers are there only because they fear for their lives or the lives of their family members at home
should they desert.
A weird thought, but I wonder what would happen if Ukraine offered them Asylum.
I saw a video yesterday of captured Russian soldiers being interviewed/interrogated. They are young (<20 yo) conscripts who had been massing for two weeks for the "training mission" they were told they were sent on. They had no idea they were to invade Ukraine and fight a war. The Ukrainian captors offered them food, tea, warmth, and running water.

Since the sanctions started, it appears there's been a dramatic drop off in certain types of Twitter and Facebook postings. May be coincidence, may be a crackdown by social media on Russian troll accounts, or may be the workers can no longer be paid through the typical channels due to sanctions, I'm not sure.
;)

Hardly a secret Putin has been sowing dissent and unrest in the US via social media, and the sudden drop in some types of posts has been interesting, to say the least.

I'll leave it to those who may be interested to dig around and read up on it.

More accurately, getting shot in the back of the head for picking up your own wheat, that you planted and grew, that was stolen from you by Russia.

That's straight from the Khymer Rouge playbook. A former co-worker, and someone I considered a friend, escaped the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia. Most of his family was killed - many for this exact reason. He and his brother only survived by hiding in the jungle, living on a diet of mostly tarantulas.

The point is this shit really happens. Greed and lust for power seemingly has no bounds. If allowed to grow unchecked, we end up in a situation where Putin has now joined the ranks of evil with the likes of Hitler, Pol Pot and other notable pieces of shit. The real question is whether he is so far out of touch, that his ego is now more important than the entire planet.

i guess "the risk of nukes be mitigated" would not have been quite as stylish to say in the first place. ;)
so we'll let him have Poland then too? How about Finland, Sweden? Germany? all he has to do is threaten to use nukes to get whatever he wants? better to just call his bluff now so fewer people get hurt. and if he nukes us it is something he is going to do anyway.

to be brutally honest if I was Putin and was serious about using nukes? I'd do it tonight as soon as Biden takes the podium for the state of the union address.. decapitate the whole American government.

boy rob, you really didn't understand what i was saying.

you initially said "the risk of nukes be damned" - which kindof implies you don't care about the risk. then you said the risk would be greater if he gains ukraine. thus, acting now would mitigate, or reduce, the risk of a nuclear strike later on. suggesting you want the risk reduced is a little different than saying you don't give a damn about the risk. you saw the wink emoji, right? peace.

So, you seem to have given this whole use nukes approach a lot of thought, and have made pretty clear what you 'would do'.

Do you think Putin is going to nuke the Capitol tonight ?
