I knew it, my people started this shit…fucking Vikings.

“Ukraine and Russia go back to Kievan Rus, a medieval Viking federation that ruled first from Novgorod to the north, and then from Kyiv. Its territory included what is now Ukraine, Belarus and part of Russia. Kievan Rus meant “the land of the Rus”. The word “Russia” derives from Rus. In the 9th century CE, Norsemen, primarily Rus from Roslagen in eastern coastal Sweden, arrived in Novgorod, either as a response to a call for help or as raiding parties. One of them, Rurik I, established the Rurikid dynasty in Novgorod. Kyiv was taken by Oleg of Novgorod — (readers who have watched the TV series “Vikings” will remember Oleg the Prophet) — Rurik’s successor. This dynasty would rule for more than 700 years, right down to Ivan the Terrible, first Czar of Russia, in the 16th century. In between, the Mongol invasion of 1237-1242 splintered Kievan Rus. Rus, according to another theory, also means “people wh o rowed”.
Kerry, when my dad's side of the family did DNA tests they were surprised to learn they had about 1/3 Scandinavian blood They had no family records or memory of intermarriages with anyone from Scandinavian countries. That blood was already in them, passed down from the Vikings of long ago. Interesting stuff...so I'm about 1/6 Viking. And 1/8 Apache. That explains a few things about me.....LMAO.

My great grandparents came from the village of Shenderovka, about 60 miles from Kyiv. My dad's grandpa and grandma. His mom's father came from Odesa. Several of their siblings stayed in Ukraine, so when I watch the news it isn't a "spectator sport." I look at those faces and wonder ...which ones could be relatives? And why did I win the immigration lottery while they didn't? It does give rise to some guilt, but also gratitude for the cushy life we all have here ( that so many bitch about nonstop).

Retired General Mark Hertling just reported on CNN that captured Russian soldiers said they were told they were going on a training exercise. They reportedly said they had no idea they were going on an invasion mission. If that is true, that says a great deal about Russian military tactics and preparedness. And there are several stories of vehicles getting lost and running out of fuel. I think the story about the changing of road signs to fuck with them is hilarious.

As far as this being the "Russian B team", I've thought about that too. But with so much at stake, it's hard to believe Putin would risk putting any personnel other than his best into this fight. There is just too much for him to lose. And now he's threatening to use nukes. You don't pull that card now if you have your best forces ready to go. But with Putin, who knows what he's thinking.....

As far as some of the stories of heroic actions being untrue.....I'm sure a few are. Or some names are wrong. In this age of memes and fake bullshit it's a safe bet some of the stories are puffed up or just not true. But the real surprise is how many are absolutely true. Their president is picking up a weapon to fight and refuses to leave. Thousands of volunteers, including women, are fighting now. Two extremely famous and very wealthy Ukrainian athletes (the Klitschko brothers, one of whom is the mayor of Kyiv) are fighting. I think this has done a couple things. It's given us all a very stark reality check as to the will of people who have been conquered before....and their resolve to never go back under the yoke of communist control now that they've had 30 years of independence. It's also made us look at our own current crop of politicians, with their nonstop partisan fighting and lap-dog barking at the other party and chronic selfishness....can you imagine ANY of them picking up a weapon to defend this country? (actually, there are a few I believe would without hesitation, but very few). And watching them use this war as an excuse to take cheap potshots at people in the other party is sickening...

Lastly, please try to remember...it is Ukraine. NOT "the Ukraine."

History is filled with megalomanic tyrants commiting grievous military blunders, surrounded by fawning sycophants, who eventually share the same fate. That's the path Putin has chosen, and we're along for the painful ride until the world is free of his slimy carcass.
But Krusty, I want to know how you really feel!

Countries don't friends...they have interests. Stalin and Hitler were 'friends', until they weren't.
Much as Mao and Kruschev had their ideological spat, and that lead to the Sino- Soviet split in the 60's, a decade later Nixons trip to China and our engagement with China...then China and Putin buddying up...

Lol

...and so it goes...

Seeming like annexing Ukraine east of the Dneiper River is the main plan? Maybe seize Odessa permanently too and link up with Transnistria in Moldova. Tyrants love to study maps in leisure time.

I saw a short clip that Reuters reports Putin put their nuclear forces on alert. The look on the commanders' faces was not happy.

If things really start to go south for Putin, it would be a good idea to watch your cyberbutt; ensure your antivirus is up-to-date, don't stay signed into internet websites when not using your computer, and maybe power off. And since the world's infrastructure is so computer- internet dependent, keep cars gassed, & shelves stocked...

I would 100% Alamo up in Soap Lake with my boos.

"Soap Lake leader you are surrounded. Surrender immediatly."

"This is Billy Bass MF."
Billy Bass, "Hah! You can't get away that easily!

"In 2022 we took a little trip,
Along with Major Billy Bass to Kyev to let 'er rip.
We took a little bacon and rucksack full of cabbage rolls,
and marched along together, taking Ruskie fire on all sides.

"Ole Billy Bass said we could take 'em by surprise,
if we didn't fire our AKs till we looked 'em in the eyes;
We held our fire till we seen their faces well,
then we opened up our AKs and really gave the Russkies hell!

We fired our guns and watched as Ruskies fell;
We fired once more, and Ruskies were a runnin',
on down the Dneiper River all the way to Belarus . . .

This ditty needed a little more work and doubtlessly still does as the story unfolds.

Putin's inner circle of siloviki seem frightened by his actions. The fear on their faces make me wonder how far he might go in this conflict. Also, which of them would or could stop him?

Nothing to worry about:

Wow, this guy is a special brand of asshole. His little incursion is getting tough now he's playing the crazy nuke card and calling it defensive. What a fucking clown. At least the calm facade is starting to crumble. I always took him at cold and calculated. He's beginning to resemble a cornered animal. While I like the idea of that a cornered animal is capable of all kinds of irrational stuff.
