One should never give up on a Dr. Spratley. One of the best flies I have ever used on a river. Have not tried them on a lake yet.you must have given up on that Dr. Spratley I gave you. LOL
Doubles make heavy feathered shrimp-like flies run true. I used to tie my GPs on doubles, barbless of course.Love the Ally's shrimps. They also look great when tied on doubles. Not sure why they aren't fished more.

One my last couple visits to the Meadow Lakes Fishing Camp in BC the Doc Spratley in black, red and chartreuse was one of the most popular flies especially with guests who trolled flies.I can testify to the effectiveness of the Doc Spratley in lakes.
