ODFW Director Retires after 40 Years

Thanks for the link. Overall seems like a good guy. I can't speak to the game side of things, but managing our fisheries declining stock is not an easy task. Other than the take of wild steelhead in southern Oregon I can't say I have too many complaints. I'm sure others will though...

I actually found his POV and experiences a breath of fresh air. Yeah, while I may not agree with everything he said, he was trying to do the right thing. He knew it would not please everyone. But he tried to move forward.

I can not imagine what he saw and tried to manage and to do it for 40 years is amazing.

Oregon has done infinitely better than Washington.

Ah yes Curt Gillnett Melcher. Does no one remember 2017 when he refused to implement phasing out of colimbia river gillnets passed by both the Washington and Oregon legislators?

I may be wrong but all I think it got us in Washington was the Columbia river fee. Which I pay to fish musky in Mayfield.
