Awesome Dogs of PNW

Not water dogs, but some of very best dogs we've ever had were Australian Cattle Dogs (often referred to as Heelers). Medium sized, rugged, affectionate, easy care, and extremely intelligent. This working breed hasn't been ruined by AKC conformation dogshow breed bullshit.

Tilly (our ACD) actually surprised me and was very much a water dog.

She was the awesomest - if we find the acreage we want, we're getting another!!

cheers

When our children were small we had a female German Shepherd. Perhaps the best dog we've ever had.

She loved the woods, canoeing and retrieving sticks, but didn't care much for swimming.

So naturally we always threw sticks out into the lake for the amusement of other campers, because she'd jump into the canoe so we could paddle her out to the stick so she could retrieve it. Damn smart pup!

Any dog owner who actually believes that they do all of the teaching & training is very much mistaken . . .

Well it's 9 degrees, and she is about the skinniest dog in the world. After many looks out the front door she decided she had to suck it up go out. Tripod action.
