NFR NFL 2023 Season

Non-fishing related
Ya all are pathetic. Tonight's game has to be been a well played game with good officiating and decent commentary. It's has been exciting to see the Lions have a decent season this year. Do you all watch football just to try to outdo each other with pissing and moaning?
Well...

Yes

Am not aware there was another option.😆😅😅

The halftime show where Jimmy Johnson was inducted to the ring of honor, I wish Jimmy Johnson would have told Jerry Jones to his face, You should have kept me as couch we would have won 4 Super Bowls in a row. instead he thanked him.
No spine.

In a season of controversy pointed out by Evan, clearly the Lions should have won tonight. Reffs are 100% to blame

The "Reporting Infraction" that nullified the Lion's winning TD is more of an idiotic "rule" for NFL games than the "rule" about scouting is for BIG10 schools. In both cases, these "rules" should be stricken from the respective "rule books." Let Common Sense prevail.

Whats idiotic is he did report. It's on video.

Detroit is the winner of this game. But they won't get credit for it.

the Donaghy of the NFL?

I don't really subscribe to much of this conspiracy stuff (should be obvious by now), but I'm rarely surprised that there are refs here and there (very small minority) who are quite biased for one reason or another.

No it was pointed out that the NFL having corrupt refs is "earth is flat" level ridiculous.
see above.

There's a huge difference between "the NFL has a couple of of shitty refs" and massive conspiracies.

Yeah, I think if something weird is going on overall, it's a lot more complicated than some massive cohesive conspiracy.

My issue remains the lack of accountability for things like this. This ref has a long list of questionable calls and non calls, but won't suffer a single consequence other than people being upset at him.

This is the same ref who called the unnecessary roughness against green bay for tackling mahomes in bounds, then immediately next play a non call on egregious opi.

With no consequences, it just feels like more of a feature than a bug that these refs can continue doing what they do.

Not a Dallas fan at all, but, is there an argument to be made that the lineman didn't get the refs attention and acknowledgement? An analyst in this article states that it's the players responsibility to get the refs attention and ack. Apparently #70 also checked in eligible with the ref, and then was covered at the line of scrimmage; so there was an illegal formation penalty that would have been called evem if 68 had checked in?

So the video does show Decker walk over to the ref...and he sez he reported. The video also shows the other tackle Skipper walk over to the ref, so why does he say he didn't report? Video is not audio. One possible confusion is two guys talk to the ref at the same time, but only one is "reporting"? The ref sez that Skipper reported, not Decker.

Another point: It seems when a player "reports" the ref announces it to the defense. The defense is supposed to be told. If Dallas had been notified that Decker was eligible, then they prolly woulda covered him... /endpotstirring

Adding this from ESPN

However, in a pool report, referee Brad Allen said the opposite, that Skipper reported to him as eligible and Decker did not.

"Therefore, he is an ineligible touching a pass that goes beyond the line, which makes it a foul," Allen said of Decker in the pool report. "So, the issue is, number 70 did report, number 68 did not."

Video showed Decker having a conversation with Allen, who then said something to the Cowboys' defense.

"That conversation is where [Skipper] reports to me, and I then go to the defensive team, and I say to them, '[Skipper] has reported as an eligible receiver,' so they will be aware of who has reported," Allen said in the pool report.

Can't remember another season in which officiating has had such an impact on the final outcome of games.
All comes down to the hubris of the commish of the plantation, er NFL, making 50M a year and flying around in a private jet when not giving bro hugs on draft day.
During a press the commissioner said he believes NFL officiating has never been better. “When you look at officiating, I don't think it's ever been better in the league,” Goodell told reporters.

#70 did not check in with the ref. #70 had no contact with the referee. #70 is no where near Decker when he reports. #70 is Skipper. Terrible mistake by the referee. The formation would have been perfectly legal if the referee had acknowledge the correct player as eligible receiver. The receiver next to Decker checks with the line judge to make sure he is off the line this making Decker the end man on line of scrimmage. (Legal)
