FOUND - fly boxes at Rocky Ford

I like fishing that area!
I've launched a cast or two from the bridge and the surrounding shoreline. Jeez, I don't remember ever seeing this creek with such low flows.

Thread drift - sorry OP (huh?): Something big is going to happen at the hatchery. Semitruck loads of large diameter poly pipe being delivered and stacked (24"?).

FOUND: See those notes taped to the bridge? My phone number? YEAH! I had a phone call tonight from the owner. He described the boxes well enough for me to know he's the owner. Super excited to find the owner.

Another prime example, ladies and boys, of why we should have our names and phone numbers on fly boxes (and gear) because some of us are perfectly capable of setting something down and forgetting it.

Edit: by the way, apparently the creek fished very well today!

This is wonderful, you're persistence in finding the owner is inspiring - may good karma follow you.

cheers

Great work Pat! So cool you finally found the owner.

Cool, the owner called ya.
I have found two different nets on RF. One had the owners name and ph# and I got it back to him.
The other is still hanging in my garage.
I found a fly rod leaning on that bridge once. It was gone when I went to go back home.
I miss fishing RF, esp. in winter.

Lost n Found revisited: Since I was able to find the owner of the three lost fly boxes, speak with him and mail the boxes to his home I felt rewarded that he found his lost fly boxess (remember, he doesn't tie his own). This afternoon I got a thank you card from Michael with a note that reads: "THANKS, don't send the money back please take your lady to dinner". Michael sent me half a C note. When I saw the envelope, I told "my lady", I hope he didn't send us a check. He didn't send a check, just cash. It's too much. I suppose Michael and I need to meet up. In the meantime, perhaps I should tie few flies and send them to him.... what a nice man Michael is.

... and I'm sure he thinks "and what I nice man the founder of the boxes is" as do I, for your efforts.

cheers

So I just had a major car issue and a friend who I was chatting with about it offered his unused van out of the blue, for as long as i needed it. I needed it for almost 2 weeks, and I bought him a nice bottle of Templeton for his offer. He tried hard to refuse and insisted I needn't do it, but damnit that was just too nice to not give something in return. He saved my ass i can at least get him some drinks.

Moral of my story: let the gut thank you with the 50. No you dont care to have it but he cares that you do. Otherwise he probably owes you his life or firstborn, from karmic standpoint (I dont understand karma dont @ me.)

Good on you Buzzy. Not everyone is as honest as you. About ten years ago, my cousin invited a friend of his to our family reunion, which was on a popular fly fishing lake. He found (we both saw it at the same time, he just beat me to it) a fly box laying at the boat launch. Hundreds of beautiful hand tied flies. And there was a name and number on it, but I never saw it close enough to get it. The asshat insisted on keeping the flies. We almost came to blows over it.
The next year my cousin wanted to bring his friend again, but I made it very clear he wasn't allowed back on the property.

50 bucks - can't spend that all at one time in any Ephrata restaurant!
He can if he takes me with him!

This has been one helluva quest for you Buzzy. I'll bet your glad it's over. Heck I'm glad for ya!
