ISO cheap bootfoot waders for the salt

I had these Cabelas Premium waders in the past. Always figured they were semi-disposable and each pair worked fine for a few years. Nice and light. Last year I bought a fancy pair of Patagucci waders and now I'm afraid to use them!

I think I'll buy another pair of the Cabelas (in Large-Stout) and wear them with my dive shoes for the salt.

If you will fish the salt a decent amount, I’d bite the bullet and buy a pair of boots made for that application. I’ve been been through tons boots fishing the sound heavily the last 7-8 years. These are the only ones that have held up with the lackluster care I give them. Going on season 3. That’s beyond geriatric compared to previous pairs I’ve owned. Obviously fine for freshwater too.

I don’t get out nearly as much as @jasmillo (look out world when I get my 1.5 year old and -2 month old off to military school), but I’ve got some Simms boots that have held up super well too. Not saltwater branded, but I did make sure the lace hardware wasn’t metallic when I bought them. 4 years or so and still in great shape. Although the identifying info has worn off…

Frogg Toggs at Englund Marine…got ‘em on sale for around $140 a few years ago. Great for surf fishin’ and razor clammin’.

Frogs toggs hellbender boot foot have been some of the best boot foot waders I’ve ever had. And I’ve had them from everyone, simms, orvis, cabelas. The cabelas were a close second though. Simms were good back 20 years ago when they were only a couple hundred bucks but now for $1000, not for me at all. I got the frogs toggs off Amazon at the time.

100% agree the simms salt is the best boot I have owned. I use the salt twice a week at the beach since the start of covid. These boots are tough and durable and still going. Laces lock into the lace keeps making easy lacing for arthritic fingers. They have no drain holes to keep sand out but that does not seem to be an issue when I steelhead fished these boots in a river. But usually for my freshwater boot I use a korker boa swapping between aluminum bars and felt.
