College Football 2023

I have no problem with the selection. All four are great players. But someone said if Daniels had done this at ASU this year he wouldn’t even be in top 4. Might be a touch of truth to that. I don’t know. Doesn’t matter. Great year by all 4.

Why? Why not celebrate the best player in college football (yeah, I cracked up when I wrote the 'college' part....lol)....

I mean, the best player at this level, which by everything I can see, that dude was....

All that said, I can't wait until this QB class coming into the NFL has a couple of years under their belts. I'm sure there will be a surprise or two....
Too many QB winners

Hope they both get drafted, onto good teams, get to play on the field against each other and duke it out there. Should be a good game too.
They are both probably too good to get drafted by a good teams.

The NFL has enough cash to subsidize a developmental league.
Without the tie in to a university there won't be a rabid, (think money spending) fan base. Alumni support is ingrained in college athletics. I doubt seriously if the owners in the NFL want to give away millions to support something they now get for free.

I’ve posted this before, but the NFL could make say the XFL their minor league system.
Give kids an opportunity that have no desire to go to college a chance to develop before going to the NFL.
Some of the top players may take that opportunity, but they likely need to take a haircut on what they could make versus NIL college deals.
Once in the XFL, the clock would start just like in college. Give them 5 years max to reach the NFL or they are done, so similar to what college eligibility used to be if you redshirted.
Right now you have to be three years removed from high school to be eligible for the draft.
NIL would be the wildcard in this but the NFL has the coin to do so if they ever decided to go this direction.

Great…high school education, 5 years of semi-pro football, and no higher education or technical schooling…

A great recipe for future success. 🤘🏼😁🤘🏼

There are people that do that even without football. It really wouldn’t be much different than minor league baseball. You take your chances…..
Some don’t utilize the free education that was afforded them with their scholarships. College isn’t for everyone, so no reason to pretend it is for those that truly aren’t interested in going to school other than it currently being a step towards their ultimate goal of pro ball.

The number of pro-players without a college education is a lot more than than we realize. I listen to the player introductions at the beginning of each game and there are a bunch.

Having a college education does not make for success. Look at the number of players going bankrupt/homeless/etc. If it was not for the NFL Retirement Fund, a lot of players would be in serious financial trouble.

I see where the kumquat residing in Tallahassee has included in his new budget 1 million dollars to fund legal fees for FSU to sue the playoff selection committee. Talk about priorities. And he wants to be my president. Go figure.

Available, promised or implied NIL money will wind up to be a big driver in future portal movement. Especially if the new NCAA proposal to have the schools pay directly.
Then it just becomes who can pay the most for many athletes, as the top tier players will know going in how much they will be paid, and will be able to cash some checks before the uncertainty of what is typically a short NFL career.
With a decent investment advisor and goid decisions, a college player could be set for life even before he is drafted. I bet NIL top dollar players are going to be getting 10 mil a year within 3-5 years.
If not sooner...
That being the case, NFL salaries might take a plunge.

Darn good game. Great ending. Not sure what Army was doing but that is the true meaning of bend don’t break prevent D!! The next to last play was 11 vs 11, all 22 players in that pig pile. 😜
That intentional safety at the end was a smart move. Too bad ARMY had had to pick u the ball on the goal line after Navy had failed to score.

Yes the safety was a smart and wise play.

I was talking about the play before the safety… pig pile on qb sneak and talking about Army’s prevent D and allowing Navy big chunks of yardage on simple hitch plays. Army was giving them big huge 12+ yard cushions.

UW’s Morris just hit the portal.
He stuck it out longer than most kids do nowadays. I understand his desire to play with his remaining eligibility.
DeBoer probably told him they were bringing in someone via the portal. Likely Rogers from Mississippi St.
I hope he does well on his next stop. Maybe WSU or Oregon St, who will both need a QB?
