Think of a 4000 like an 8/10wt reel

I got it for Salmon, used it once twitching jigs for Coho and I can tell you it worked fine.
Just not a spinning reel guy, like my baitcasters.

I like baitcasters as well, but twitching jigs is one of the few exceptions to that. I for whatever reason prefer the spinning reel for that.

So does my buddy who talked me into getting a spinning reel. I just never got comfortable...but they are great for float fishing as well, line comes of the spool with zero drag, as opposed to the slow spin of a baitcaster.

I've had a few spirex's. The trigger is a handy device on them. I still use a 2000 size Spirex. 4000 size would work for salmon in rivers or off the beach. Also for surf casting.
