College Football 2023

Looks like the 4 most capable teams to me. FL losing their QB made a crippling difference.

totally agree.

It's going to play out with how badly Georgia is going to smoke FSU in the Orange Bowl.

If are to e honest who makes the playoffs under the current system has never been about which are the best teams or who are the most dangerous teams at the end of the season. There are lot of examples of teams with a lost or two that have grown over the course of the season that do not make the playoffs even though they would likely be ones of those playing the best football at the season.

Rather the selective to the plays have been based on who has had the best season which for better or worse is defined by the top conference team's season record, success in conference finals, and their strength of schedule. With those criteria the three conferences winners with undefeated seasons would be considered as playoff teams. The result then becomes which of the teams with one lost won their conference championship (Alabama and Texas) should be the final one to make the 4-team play. Ultimately picking between Alabama and Texas has to be the head to head results, that will be Texas. The only time that the likely hood of the team winning a matchup is in the seeding of the 4 finalists.

From what I saw/know my final 4 in ranked order are:
Michigan
UW
Texas
FSU

Though my heart would switch Michigan and UW!

Go DWAGS

I like transparency and fixed criteria for merit awards that would include college bowl games and championships. Something as subjective and therefore susceptible to bias (Deion Sanders SI Sportsman - (coach) of the Year??? 🤮 ) as pre and current CFP to generate the amount of speculation it does about who deserves to be in the semifinals just doesn't do it for me. I know it *has to do with the physical punishment of football for the players that requires something like SoS in the mix and* must be part of the fun, but I am just an oddball that doesn't get it.

'Bama ought to hang a banner and decline their bowl invitation.

Conspiracy !!!!

😁

Excuse is ….FSU is not the same team as it was a few weeks ago, but this is true of all the teams They are all different than when the season started. The ability to ride the ebbs and flows of the season and maintain an undefeated season in a power 5 conference and win the conference championship is more deserving of a selection than teams that earned their losses and failed at one time. I’m sure with a true freshman at QB FSU game plan was toned down quite a bit because what matters is winning. They game planned to win and that was by ball control and great D. And if you want to go by who is best at the end of the season one could make an argument that the high octane Arizona might have been the best team in the PAC12 or second to UO and deserving of playing in the PAC12 Championship and not UW who squeaked out close victories over sub par teams. FSU screwed by the $$$$$$$$ factor.

FSU AD response to the selection committee is dead on….(sorry I can’t figure out how to enlarge it)

I agree with their statement wholeheartedly…wins matter…losses matter. If a committee just picks the teams they believe should be in regardless of record, then a strong case can be made for Oregon or Ohio state…

It makes we want to tie on an egg…and a worm…simultaneously…

I'm looking forward to the Huskies winning their next game.

Speaking of Georgia vs FSU. If FSU wins 😬

But how many players from both sides will opt out to avoid injury and prep for NFL?
