Hijack: There's an author I really enjoy, Jasper Fforde. He writes about an alternate reality where they have been able to bring back extinct animals like the dodo, thyalacine, mammoth, and diatryma. Dodos make great pets, mammoth cause great destruction, and you stay out of the forests where the diatryma got loose.
