Puget Sound

Shit show of a day off the boat today. Boat ran well, company was great (thanks for coming out @Kfish and @copperJon) but the fish had no interest in cooperating. Fished multiple spots that have produced for all of us from the beach and a boat, and all we had to show for it was about two dozen shakers and a small adult coho Lou caught at the only spot we fished that was new to us all :). Saw only a handful of jumpers and very few nice follows.

Ehh, there are still many worse ways to spend a morning...

Slow day for me. One standard issue unclipped 3 lber. Fished some beautiful water with great movement but not a lot of fish activity where I was at. Things are a bit stale and could use some clouds and rain refreshers.

Music to my skunky ears!

Much the same for me. One 3-4 lb clipped fish is now vacuum sealed and ready for smoking later this fall. It ate a goofy pink and orange GITD fly before dawn as soon as it hit the water.

The fly guy to my left got a very chunky clipped fish and the fly guy to my right got his first keeper coho. Much talk of the ability to retain unclipped fish starting next week and Winston rods at Costco on the beach today. Herring guys brought some nice fish to the beach.

Fished a few spots, gorgeous morning for a minute!

Got this rod from Stonefish the other week, thank you kind Sir! It has some mojo, this was a solid Cutt, though went on to land multiple good sized cutts and coho, most coho small, but three coho were in the 3-4 pound range. Smaller coho and cutts were hanging in the same water, bigger coho were not... Damn - so fun when they run.....Some of Brian's mojo rubbed off

@Wadin' Boot
Great job! Did the rod squeak? 😉😂

Welcome to the Puget Sound dive team. Higher points will be added if you 1. Break your rod, 2. If you jam up your reel, 3. Fill your waders. My first was #3, the second was #2😏
I definitely earned points for #3
Glad it sucked for everyone all around, misery loves company! :) kidding

Gorgeous morning with cap’Jasmillo getting us through the fog banks.

That pink was on a diet.😉

Nice cloud cover. Hope it stays all day.
Ferry is late, down to one boat due to short staffing. Nothing new there. Almost a three hour wait getting home yesterday due to the same issue.

I read that one of the ferry’s had something happen to its propeller and will be out for a while. Anyone else hear that?
Sure enough.

Tough outing for me today. Toughest of the season in fact. First trip I didn't put a coho to the net. Finished 0-3 on hooked fish and missed a few grabs. Current just never really worked for me anywhere I was. Had a few schools of fish randomly roll through that provided my only action.

Morning cloud cover was nice but eventually got pretty bright. Just never really felt promising. I think SF nailed it, just felt stale.

Went 4-4 today from the beach. 3 fish early then dead for the next 3 hours. Hit a different beach on the way home I have not fished much this year and got my last. Two of the fish early were in the 4-5 lb range. The other two were in the 3-4 lb range. Let the first three go looking for a 6+ lb’r but beggars can’t be choosers, so ended up just keeping the last fish I caught and called it a day.
