NFR Passing Cars Correctly with Space

When I see merges in heavy traffic what effs everything up is people trying to sneak in here or there, blinker on and waiting too far back... go strait to the bottom of the ramp as far as possible and where that triangle point meets you take turns.

Yes, I'm pretty sure what slows everything down is all the personality. One guy says "no you don't" and won't let someone merge smoothly. Another decides to take two lanes and stop those %$#&! from moving past all of us that are "doing it right".
Now if everyone in the lane that ends up choking off moved all the way forward , and if at the end of that lane everyone allowed one car to smoothly merge we would have achieved automotive efficiency. But that can't happen here in the Pacific Northwest, because we all have a lot of personality.

That can't happen with humanity

Drivers are different in different areas. Left lane camping is not all that common in the Bay Area, while it is the rule between Portland and Eugene. And in any part of Colorado your guess is as good as mine what the drivers are up to. It's a free for all.

Does water flow more easily thru curvy sections or straight?
Getting over early and keeping a nice distance in a straight line allows for an easy flow.
Nature rule Daniel-san…even in pipes. πŸ˜‰

Yeah well it's not the law or the proper way to drive. Please learn to zipper merge. I had no idea you were one of those.

Zipperheads forgot to tuck their brains back in before zipping up…
Ya see the signs and know there’s a merge…ramming up to the blockage is not the best option…get over sooner and it will go more smoothly.
I have no sympathy for zipperheads that can’t get over at the β€œfront of the line”.

And I wonder why our highways are full of congestion and cluelessness. It has nothing to do with being first. It has to do with efficient conveyance. I don't care about you or being first. I care about getting to where I'm going efficiently. Again, it has nothing to do with you or being in front of you. It's not about you.

Last night around 10:30 on north I-5 there were a dozen idiots playing β€œfast and curiousβ€œ swerving in and out of traffic going at least 90+ Never a cop around when you need one.....and around Sea Tac airport there’s always some assclowns in the fast lane going slow trying to pass everyone else in the right lanes going to the airport....then they try to squeeze over. No frickin wonder there’s so much road rage....;-(

If people aren't camped in the left there's no reason to play fast and curious. Driving isn't that hard. Yet it's a concept that escapes many in Western Washington

I was in the second to the left going 71 and most cars were going faster. These clowns were going from the slow lane to the carpool lane swerving in and out of traffic. My guess expert teenage race car drivers!

β€œI'm no preacher but I can tell you this-the lives that people lead are driving them crazy and their insanity comes out in the way they drive.”

One of what…??

I merge just fine…on ramps and at road blockages…

It’s the β€œone of those believers” that I worry about. πŸ˜‰

And don't forget the person who uses the car pool lane to get to their exit then stop up the lane trying to cross two lanes of backed-up traffic, always wondered why that lane stopped during traffic jams as there's no merge point there. Although, some back-ups that appear to have no cause can be the result of a prior backup that takes a while to clear as cars always show up faster than cars can accelerate away from the stoppage, this occurs often on I-205 north of Vancouver.

Maybe a dumb question, but does the drivers test check your ability to merge?
It's been so long I can't remember. I do remember backing around a corner, which I have yet to do since taking my drivers test 25 years ago. But I don't remember merging. Hmmmmmmm.....
Maybe if merging isn't part of the test, they could swap backing around a corner with merging.
