Rain

Funny you should mentioned that.
In June of 2021 when we had the record temps, I got in my car after work. If I recall correctly, the inside temp gauge was reading something like 115°. I turned on the AC and the windshield immediately cracked.
So yes, I need to get it fixed. It’s been too long….and I got screwed by hot weather yet again. 😂

Now I know what you’re talking about......

Day 3 of the PNW heat wave... can the lawn be restored to life?

The trip back from the lake took an unexpected turn for two intrepid anglers.
Beware while out near Soap Lake...

I’m loving this mornings marine layer / natural AC. Really nice to finally wake up to a cool house. I hope it continues through the weekend so we can fish under it.

I just finished watering the plants.

Enjoy your weekend Brian.

Funny how a nice sunny day in August used to be enjoyed in western Washington, not feared. The rainy season is not too far away.
Anyway, very glad I won't be in the Willamette Valley this week, temps over 100 suck.
A nice sunny day, sure. It was 90* on Mother's Day this year, and the weather hasn't really looked back since. May usually sees a couple of inches of rain...we got less than one. We call June "Junuary" because of rainfall, but despite two very rainy days...also dry. July usually sees multiple rainy days, we got zero. August usually gets about an inch, so far? Zero.

Our total rainfall this year is about what we should have had four months ago.

Rather than rain, it looks like we are going to get some smoke starting tomorrow here on the wetside.

The AQI here was around 170 yesterday morning. I closed up all the crawlspace vents to try and minimize the smell from our furnace.... just watched BC/Alberta news on fires. What a mess. I wonder what will be left next May when we get up to Mile High Resort...

This guy has a forecasted smoke plume map for the weekend in his latest weather update.
He covers the PNW pretty good, if you like weather geek stuff.

I was really hoping we would get some relief today, but the system boundary has stayed just East of us. Been fighting a nasty headache all day. No soccer practice tonight.

Sweet blessed rain on the tundra this morning! I stood on the porch with tears in my eyes smelling the fresh cool air and being grateful for the sudden change in weather. The fire destruction around Spokane is just overwhelming, it is hard to imagine the grief people are feeling that have lost everything they worked all their lives for.

The Oregon Road fire near my granddaughter forced her to evacuate this week but has since turned away and she is no longer in danger. That fire is over 11,000 acres and has zero percent containment so far. Today there are 630 crews on hand to try to get control of it, the rain helps along with the reduced wind.

For now this is wonderful-it smells like a sweet wet forest out there with no choking smoke and 59 degree temps. The house is fully open with box fans blowing a copious amount of cool air inward and 5 overhead fans to spread it around. In all I have 8 fans going to flush out the last remnants of the stale air before more smoke arrives. Mid 90's expected for next week so it ain't over yet.
