I like the idea, but it just doesn't seem like it'd be weighted for the type of spoon fishing I like to do. But they do seem like they'd be effective.

With the gear rod I use a 3/4 oz weight on a 12" dropper and fish them like you would a corkie and yarn. I usually do the gear fishing from the boat. If you're doing it from shore you may want to switch to a slinky.

Yeah I like to run straight line to the spoon with no weight. Just part of the appeal of spoon fishing for me - no inbetween stuff. Just like swinging a fly.

But if I ever got more in to drift style fishing, I'd totally give that a go.

I've decided when I retire early... hopefully from the millions we make running forums... I want to get in to Rally Racing. That just seems like it would very much be my thing. Probably start with Rally Cross and go from there.
I'll probably just stay a bass guy...buy my own bass ponds ranch😁 @Josh what about you?

Yeah I came really close to going there for some Groupon specials when I lived in Duvall. Never could convince the (ex) wife to let me go though.

Back in the day, they used to have rally races that would do the hill on 85th up from Golden Gardens.
I was in the long parking lot halfway up and several guys came in too hot and bent the hell out of their wheels hitting the curb while making the turn. It was incredibly fun to watch. Unfortunately, that kind of event won’t ever happen again. Here is a video of the course they drove.
Used to watch hydro races on Green Lake as well.

Welcom to the community! I usually carry a spinning reel, some trusty spoons, and spinners, and a casting float along with my fly outfit into high lakes if I'm not carrying my Backpacker Pro tube.

Mrs Brian and I also enjoy motorsports; late model, street stock, Legends, sprint cars, etc. at local tracks, NASCAR Cup series...
Hydroplane races are something that I’ve had the pleasure of attending over the last 5-6 years, only missing one round at the Tri-Cities Water Follies in that time. Two of my best friends moved back home to Kennewick, and they got me hooked. In fact, I just got home last night…
The roar of the piston boats was quite loud where I grew up near the Lake 3 1/2 miles south of Stan Sayres pits. I rode my bike down to watch the races every year until I enlisted in the USAF and moved away. As a pre-teen I remember sitting on the beach with my bike behind a group of older teens - young adults when one of the girls said "I want to see a wreck!" I went over to her and told her (in front of her friends) something like; "It is dangerous racing in open cockpit boats at 130 mph. I don’t want to see someone die while entertaining us."

Next month is the Reno Air Races. I’ll be there for the week. My first time going, and also the last time it will be held. Property owners have reportedly sold the venue. Guessing it’ll be apartments in the next coupla years…
Mrs Brian and I were involved with SAC aeronuatical Command and Control and NORAD flightline OPS. We like going to airshows and drove a rented motorhome to the Reno Air Races in 2018. It's a well run aviation spectacular. I think you'll dig it. I'd like to go again and hope they can find a new home somewhere in the western US.

Then I will totally not mention power trolling them in lakes and rivers...

When I first arrived in Seattle I met a guy who claimed to do this back in the day, I thought he was full of it. He noted it was a blast every summer; get all liquored up and then vroom. He also noted a load of wipeouts that added to the fun...
