Ok here's the story.

I bought a Steffen Brothers fiberglass 8'3" 6/7wt 3pc off another forum (unused) and the day it shipped Shane put a Steffen Brothers fiberglass 8'6" 6/7wt 2pc up on his site and I panicked. Since I couldn't cast these side by side at a shop, I got FOMO and ordered the second Steffen. I figured I'd cast them side by side and then sell whichever one I liked least.

So with that being said, I have a Steffen Brothers fiberglass 8'6" 6/7wt 2pc for sale. It's never seen the water, I took it to the park for 30 minutes of test casting. This thing is SWEET. Honestly, the biggest reason I chose the other one is I preferred the down locking reel seat and grip a bit more.

Flor grade full wells grip, Snake brand guides, Lemke reel seat with walnut insert.

Save a few dollars and get your Steffen now. I'd prefer not to ship since it's a 2 piece, but we can probably work something out (I still have the box it was delivered in last week).

A shorter answer would be what isn't?

Randys not wrong.

It can honestly do pretty much whatever you would need in a 6 and 7 wt rod.
I like it it as a streamer tool with a 240 gr head, but wouldn't hesitate to throw salmon flies with a 6wt floater

and pretty much everything in between.
 
I appreciate the response. I’m still just getting a feel for rod weights/action in relation to application.

I have come to use mine over my other 7wts a lot for salmon/steel. Single spey, nymphing, shooting heads and streamer lines all used on the glass, and it’s a blast from the past, that should last for a great cast, but hey hey now not too fast 🫳🎤

You (I think?) and I, are not that old, therefore theyre actually jut great modern fishing tools ;)
 
I have a 2 piece Morgan 7, otherwise I’d jump on this. I’ve grown to like 2 piece quite a bit. String it, fold it and slide it into a tube mounted in the truck. Ready to fish in seconds for quick stops.

You know probably that Shane bought Steffen a couple years ago, so there’s a good chance he built both of your rods, unless you know otherwise. I have 3 of his rods and think his work is top notch. I’d bet this is a fine and versatile stick.

I admit to a problem. I have 2 fiberglass 7wts (both 8’6”), one heavier (FF857) and a light 7, the Morgan. Modern glass 7wts are so much fun, that I’m tempted by this Steffen. Someone will be happy they pulled this trigger.

If I didn’t travel by plane to fish so many destinations I would be buying it…all my travel rods are 4 piece. I do have one two piece rod, but I never take it on the plane
