What Are You Eating?

street corn…
I've read this term but don't know what it means. What's street corn?

You make some eye appealing meals. Let me know what time dinner is; I could probably swing by, upping the high-falutin'-ness of my foodie game. I could for sure help you out getting rid of some of that old, out-dated wine you've been drinking.

For us hicks, food consists of meat, starch (potatoes, rice, or pasta), and veggies. Other stuff on a plate is unidentified organic matter.
I'll give ya ring next time we're having possum...

So…Mexican street corn is usually grilled, then slathered with crema, crumbled cotija cheese, grated garlic, lime juice, dried powdered chile, and cilantro…I just cut the corn off the cob and seared it in olive oil & butter…

I made it that way before, a bit of a hassle, but excellent with fresh sweet corn in season

Garden breakfast toast. Mashed fava beans with green garlic, lemon, olive oil and mint. Pickled carrots, cucumber, my GF’s homemade sprouts, spring red onions and cilantro flowers to make it pretty. A little bit of goat cheese, salt, pepper and a good drizzle of olive oil.

I like it...
No unidentified organic matter.
Fit fer a hick...
😉

This one is for you Salmo.G
I'd eat that in a south county minute. I do love me a strip steak and baked potato. And red wine. That meal checks all the boxes! Sadly I don't eat baked potatoes, or potatoes at all, very often any more - trying to watch my weight. Although the daily special last Sunday at the Rib Eye was, well, smoked rib eye with mashed potatoes and gravy. I was in heaven, but basically didn't eat Monday.

Reckon you be needin' to git out on that there velocipede more often...

I'll do a cauliflower puree instead of potatoes next time...

Found a few Prince mushrooms (agaricus augustus) yesterday evening while walking the neighborhood. These fruit in warmer weather, generally after a decent rain which we had last week. While related to your store bought button mushroom, these have an almond extract aroma and flavor profile and can often be found amongst our urban Cedrus deodara as well as other cedars. Since we were on already game planning what was for dinner this made the decision easy. Chicken and Prince mushroom Marsala.
