Definitely not my favorite SRC beach!

I haven’t had a fly rod in my hands in about eight years. We moved to senior living five months ago and I got rid of all my fly rod except for a sage 4wt travel stick. I decided I just wanted to sling some line si I broke out the little stick, treaded it, added a tube fly and set out. Since my hand tremor has increased a bunch, tying the hook onto the leader was a challenge. Eventually, I prevailed and since it was barbless I was able to extract it from my only punture without Significant injury.

The setting is the “lake (pond) at our front door and has a population of sunfish, including largemouth bass, plus sizable sterile grass carip. The scenery wasn’t much compared to my secret SRC beach I loved so much. There was a lack of marine mammals, too, including the largest slider turtle I’ve ever seen. The alligator pictured is small, maybe six feet, but he was persistent in stalking my fly on each cast. Not to worry, no way I was gonna play!

You folks out west enjoy the beauty and wonder of your setting and those great little trout!

Nice to hear from you, Karl! Keep on truckin.'
Hey Jim, still truck in’. Lots of stage of life changes/challenges. Old Man Jim’s death was troubling and sad. Plus all of my fishing buddies up northwest and down this way have crossed over, too. I can’t complain, I’ve had a life so huge it defies any possible dream I never had. That being said, I continue to search for new paths in whichever direction that appears.

I know I am totally an outdoor dog so playing bingo, bridge, or poker ain’t my thing. I volunteer in my role as a Master Gardener with restrictions on a lot of the physical tasks. I’m identified as a “Talker” in the program and am currently editing my hummingbird presentation . I’d like to do a talk on African savannah elephants but the low number residing here limits interest. I can only bore folks with my photos and Africa stories when I can corner them at supper!

Keep the flight brother, upright, moving and burning. oxygen!
