NBA Playoffs 2023

What a bunch of ghetto thugs the Memphis team turned out to be. All bark and no bite and in the end they stepped on their own dick. An all-hoodlum team doesn't belong in the NBA. So glad they are gone.

This comes across as someone whom is old, rich, and very white. Am I wrong?

I love the fact that Memphis lost by 40.

Now, let's go Jimmy effin' Butler!

Thugs has a definite racial cringe to it. But I'd definitely call Brooks a punk for talking trash and then not showing up to the post game presser.

Sabonis too for not shaking hands post game.

I'm sure that playoff Harden will show up soon....seeing him play this well in the playoffs is so bizarre.

It was something else to watch Harden just switch-switch-switch to get the defender he wanted. Boston will definitely have a response in game 2. Hoping Embiid gets back on the floor soon!

Disappointing to watch home court slip away with Embid on the bench…it seems the C’s continually play down to their opponents level…

I was also very surprised that they kept Butler in the game after he rolled his ankle…didn’t make any sense

Not sure where you get the idea that thugs is racial. The term has been around for 200 years and was widely used in 30's and 40's movies. Along with gangster, hoodlums and other old references to lawless and ruthless gangs. Time changes the context of things so an old term may be frowned upon today or exactly the opposite.

Take the word gay for instance. I grew up in the 30's and 40's and the word was widely used to describe an era of American life in the 1890's. It suggested a lighthearted and carefree period in our history and was generally regarded as a descriptor of happy times. Fast forward to today and look it up-the first reference to it is of a sexual relationship between 2 people of the same sex. I like the earlier interpretation better but can't use it in it's original context for obvious reasons.

it is not the 1930's or 40's.
what you wrote made me cringe.
I am not trying to shame you, rather just let you know how what you wrote is likely to be taken.

In other NBA news, looks like the Grizz agreed with draymonds "The dynasty starts after you, not with you" savage trash talk:

2 things I'm going to watch in the Lakers-Dubs series:

Can the legend of Loon slow AD at all? Doesn't have to outplay him, just do his normal stuff.

Will Klay be better or worse under the bright lights playing his dads team(with his dad calling radio no less) in LA? They are going to need some "Klay games" to get past this one.

I’m going to have a gay old time watching Lebron outplay that thug Draymond…

I can kinda see it, but I'm surprised too.

Regarding the other BS, if you get called out for some antiquated verbage that you may think nothing of....try not to double down. (Sorry to pile on there Ive, but man, there was definitely a lot of cringe in a couple of your posts there). To quote my favorite sports personality (actually a great quote for general life stuff, not just sports), "I'd rather get it right, than BE right"...

Pretty surprised (a good way) to see the Heat holding their own sans Jimmy. If they go up 2-0 (and Jimmy returns for the rest of the series), it's over! How's that for a hot take!? 😆😆😆

Too bad they didn't.
