Heard this played at many mid 80’s parties.

Great Harp (harmonica) player from England in the early 70's. He played with pub rock/pre-punk Eddie and the Hot Rods. This is his solo stuff. I love it

Great ballad that bounces between narrative and lyric poetry. I love songs like that. Alas, the first thing that comes to mind when I hear this are the lyrics we created in college. I had a roommate with the last name Fitzgerald and this was our crew's drinking song. Predictably we would modify the lyrics to fit the situation and how drunk (i.e. wrecked) he was.
