BLM and new mandate

Well congress has spoken and BLM is tart being more conservation aware. Restore habitat and stream beds and remove invasive species. I guess we will see how that all works out and how certain political favorites are favored. Money does talk so we will see how much the environment is considered over the big bucks.

Damn I am a bit a cynical person~!

Damn right, Montana Brown's first to go....All warm water fish, those leg eating Pike. Humpies have only been around for 20 thousand years, maybe we scrap them also.

Maybe I'm missing something, but they've always had an invasive species eradication program targeting invasive rangeland grasses. Streamside restoration doesn't sound like a bad thing, either, esp with what cattle can do to waterways.

I come from a cattle family, both raising the cattle and the crops that feed them. I agree with this statement.

The best thing that I like about BLM is that they have the best outhouses, some with solar powered fans and always well stocked with TP

I volunteered with an environmental group in Santa Fe that got a grazing lease along a "cow bombed" stretch of the Santa Fe River but, instead of running cattle on it, they fenced it off and we planted willows and cottonwoods. The change within five years was amazing! The river surfaced and had a defined bed and banks within the fences, and was shaded by the new riparian vegetation, and tons of birds and wildlife came back.

Hopefully a good part of their focus is on regrowth in fire stricken areas.

I love BLM land. Curious how this will change things. One specific stream in WA with big brown trout comes to mind. That same stream suffers from some pretty rough cattle impacts. Good luck BLM....don't fu** it up.
