Fishing License

Are you really? :ROFLMAO:
Kinda, yeah. While I love living in Oregon, it makes Washington's runners look like experts. But, I will say, that ODFW seems to be better run than WDFW overall.

I'm surprised WA hasn't adopted Oregon's system. I just have mine all in the app. I can even record my salmon catches in there.
I also keep a picture of my Wa license on my phone. Should I ever get checked I figure I'll be "Yeah I've got a picture of it here somewhere. No, that's my myODFW app. Here it its, no that's my GoOutdoorsID app. Oh, HERE's my picture...."

My fishing is pretty simple, so my licenses (Idaho, and Oregon NR) reside in a zippered pocket of my chest pack. If I decide to switch to a larger/smaller pack I have to transfer tools, tippet, and licenses.

I’ve gone minimalist since moving to Wyoming. With no saltwater or salmon, the license is pretty simple and cheap. Heck, our fishing regulations booklet is only about 10 pages. I always drive somewhere to fish and take my phone for pictures, so this set up works great. Phone, DL, CC and fishing/hunting license.

I like it, where'd ya' get it?

I suppose I could have just left it in place and gotten belligerent with the park rangers
No need to get belligerent, just smile and remind them that it's their pass, we just get to pay for it.

You're not likely to even be at the vehicle when they leave the citation on your windshield...so you'll have to go to court to contest the citation. At a minimum a huge waste of time. Just easier to originally buy a non-vending maching pass at park headquarters and avoid the issue....or if you get one and it fades just ask for a free replacement. Once a citation is written it's in the system and can't be ignored or even cancelled by the officer.

I keep my WDFW vehicle access and Discover pass tucked into my sun visors.
I did forget to display it once at a state park and got a ticket.
I discussed it with the ranger and he said to take it up with the county.
I did so and they reduced the fine to $25.00.
SF

I got a ticket for no pass at a boat launch...
In a company truck...during the work week.
:)
I wrote a letter to the judge in the case, with my fine enclosed, stating I did have a pass, it was on the dash, do not see how the officer didbt see it, that this was a company vehicle, I was fishing on my lunch break, and the owner of the company did not want the violation attached to their vehicle.
They sent my check back in the mail, with a notice that the case was dismissed.

Sometimes a good attitude and an affirmative defense works wonders.

Once had a state trooper clock me at 90+ in a 50 zone on my bike on a deserted rural road...he and his black Charger were sitting with a radar gun hidden in some trees off road.

I only saw him when he turned the old blue lights on and I pulled over before he actually got to the pavement. Didn't cop a 'tude and he only wrote me up for the minimum 10 mph over.

He must have been in a good mood because when he asked how fast I was going he laughed when I replied "I think about 55 to 60 mph".

I keep mine in my wader’s inside chest pocket since I always fish with my waders on. If I fish out if state I both take a photo of it and keep one in my wallet.

I have a small plastic holder that is waterproof and attaches to a lanyard that I can hold in my vest pocket. On the river or the boat it's always there. I've been checked many times on the Deschutes and have amused the officer checking me by pulling out each labeled tyvek envelope to find my Ore license and tags among the invasive species permits and Wash. paperwork. It's been all good so far. Good story though when one time my fishing buddy and I were checked and he couldn't find his license. This was strange cuz we had been checked at the launch the day before and he had it then. There were two officers and while one checked him the other was looking at mine. The two officers huddled up and one finally came back and said sorry, but since you are unable to produce a valid license he would have to confiscate his gear. My buddy was almost apoplectic and I myself was astounded. I was in my camp chair enjoying a cold beverage and thought all hell was going to break loose. Then the officer laughed and said hey just playing with you, my fellow officer used his satellite phone and confirmed you're okay. Then he turned to his fellow officer and said wow I thought for a second he was going to throw me in the river. Who says lawmen don't have a sense of humor. They left and my buddy walked over to the cooler and out came the bottle of Crown.

Thanks for the reminder...I just added it to today's agenda.
I rely heavily on my smartphones calendar. It and the calculator are likely the two most important apps on my phone.
I keep my license in my man purse 😂
AKA fanny pack. Not sure which name is worse.
Fanny pack carrys all my essentials.
Eye drops, fishing license, wallet, 3 sets of keys, checkbook,
Floss pics, mini mag flashlight,
Travel toothbrush and small tube of toothpaste, nail clippers, lipstick🤣🤣
just kidding about lipstick.
Hey, I said it was a man purse.🤩
I take wallet and licence when fishing the rest stays in the vehicle.

Both fishing license and hunting licenses (and related tags) are folded in my wallet. Always.
So are mine. That way we can lose the whole shebang all at once!

I think this wisdom of keeping everything in a wallet is highly dependant upon one's 'wallet habits'.

Probably jinxing myself, but I've never yet lost a wallet in my life (now 71), but I know quite a few who've lost several (along with keys, phones) ..mainly because they have the habit of taking them out of their pocket and placing them on dashboards, car consoles, etc....probably because their wallets are as fat as George Costanza's.

Correct term is 'male chastity belt' cause you'll get no tail wearing such a thing (fanny packs...aka 'pelvic pouches') are closely related to military issued eyewear since they function in the same capacity as effective male contraceptives.😁
