Loch leven in Scotland not being an agricultural toilet and infested with cormorants. The brown trout were amazing pre 1995 and the chirommid hatches were insane though we never knew to fish them, only ‘wee doubles’ sz 14. St Serf’s island looked to be on fire as the buzzers were so thick like smoke. By the boathouse the water would be 1/4 thick with empty shucks. 18’ wood clinker boats that would drift so slow and steady even in a big wind, anchors were not really thing, a drogue maybe but again very slow drifts. All gone now, stocked with rainbows that get big and are awesome but very different to the classic.
