You know every once in a while on a nice sunny evening ( thinking Deception Pass state park in August and a couple other places) there is nothing wrong with a chair, a mini cooler, a book or magazine, a stout spinning rod and reel combo, a stick/cowbell set up. Put some raw bacon, night crawler, or whatever on the end of your hook. Stand up and cast, arrange your line/ set up , sit down and back, reach in the cooler draw a cold one and start reading or look at the inside of your eyelids, relax. Wait for the bell to ding.
No waders, no constant moving/walking, no stripping line in different combinations of retrieval, no changing of flies, no hip basket, no waders. Just a chair, shorts, and sandals dipping in an inch of water. Sun falling. A just enjoy the sounds/smells/sights adventure
It’s the one thing gear fishing can give you…a quiet calming non ambulate relaxation on the water
