PDX local capr caper...

After a hellish first three days at work this week, I eeked out an afternoon off. I knew I was gonna fish somewhere.....but where? Well, a little birdie told me about some capr seen in a local ditch. I got there around 12:45 and sure enough, there were caprs just hanging out. I managed one within the first handful of casts....a sunner, not really my favorite, but a capr is a capr is a carp. 🤷‍♂️

I then proceeded to absolutely butcher the rest of my shots for the next hour and a half....6' to the right, 6' to the left, 6' to the left again, right on it's head....d'oh. Eventually I made my way to an area where they were in thick and actually feeding. I got 2 more before the entire area was just blown up and too turbid to see anything. Called it a [half] day and headed out. Bonus catch, was this super cool (likely nutria) skull.

Thanks for reading my TED talk...at least it was short.

This work week has seemed real odd…challenges galore. I wished I could have got off early. Heck, I didn’t get to eat lunch till 2:00pm and the day started early too. Glad to read about a sunny fishing adventure…that brightened the evening for me. 😁

Not this time. I've gotten that in lots of places though.

I fished for capr since the early 70's. Over the years I have typically heard . . . "You're crazy," "Really, what ARE you fishing for," "Why," and my favorite "You can't catch carp on flies." On the plus side, while I don't fish at the moment, the secret was safe for decades.
