Not a virgin anymore!!

Catchy title? Peaked your interest? We’re talking about the Hotrod baitcaster! I C&R’d 12 rainbows today using a smaller 1” spin float, swivel and two flies…..missed way more than I caught. I finally figured out to put a bobber stop on both sides of the bobber to keep it from sliding on the line. I missed so many takedowns before the lightbulb came on! Quite a bit different than a fly rod with an indicator. But when the fish was hooked….what a blast on the reel and pulling drag! The bamboo bent well…..now I need some bigger fish! (y) (y) (y) :D
And if that wasn’t a good enough day……ended up C&R’d 93 total!!

Tried again with the bobber/flies set up Friday and today. Unfortunately way more sunshine so the fish were deeper…….No bueno trying to cast 6’+ under the bobber with my baitcaster. So only one fish today on it and countless bird’s nests! It didn’t get to play very long. I fished from noon to six and hit the 100 mark and went home happy! Majority of them on a type 3 sink with a bead head olive damsel nymph casting and stripping. My method today was to cast….take a sip of beer, this was the perfect countdown! Awesome sunny calm day on the water!
