Nor Cal / S OR folks, anyone familiar with Whiskeytown?

Thinking about putting the pontoon in and doing some bass fishing. Anyone have any experience there? Not sure which launch option would be the best. I'm thinking Whiskey Creek. The banks look pretty fishy in that cove. Maybe Oak Bottom, but that looks like it'd be a high traffic area for recreational boating. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
 
Great place for sailing! Did the Memorial Day regatta there from age 4-24. Lots of great memories.

For fishing we usually trolled ford fenders at the upper end of the lake. Kokanee and lots of rainbows. We always camped at dry creek and occasionally goofed off with float tubes and half ass bass fished (WBs on a 5wt) and caught some nice ones, so there is probably a good chance if you get more serious about it. I haven't been there since the fire so I don't know what shade is left though.

Clear creek is also super fun below the lake. I remember lots of access but we probably weren't super careful about posted signs back then...

Yeah, Clear Creek is also on my radar in case things are slow on the lake. They've dumped stockers in there above WT twice in the last month.
 
I kept a trailer in Lewiston from September to April from 2007 -2015. April was about the time locals headed up to Trinity Lake for bass. For trout it’s worth learning Lewiston Lake.
 
I've never fished Whiskeytown because it's between the Lower Sac and the Trinity/Lewiston Lake/Trinity Lake, which are all a blast. I have a friend who casually fished it in the coves trolling buggers and had a jolly good time.

Yeah, lots of good options in the area. It's a good problem to have. I hear WT is a bit of a hidden gem for bass. Supposedly loaded with big spots and a good amount of smallies and LMB, and they really don't get fished that often. It's in close enough proximity to Shasta and Trinity that most of the bass fisherman don't bother with it. And there's a cap (of I think 25 boats) on tournaments so it doesn't get that pressure either.
