Life of the Party
I had a few hours to sit behind glass last night. I set up on my tripod to watch one of my elk spots from cross canyon. It’s a pretty sweet perch with an amazing perspective of a TON of ground. I love being able to scout animals without getting anywhere near them. It doesn’t always work out that way but it’s sweet when it does. When the weather is nice and you have a comfortable spot with good glass and active animals, hours can melt away like binge watching Netflix
.
I didn’t see the bull I was looking but I did get to watch a couple of bears chow on huckleberries. I could watch bears all day…so entertaining to me. The berries are a little early this year where I’m at. They are also ripe at a higher elevation for this time of year. The West facing slopes were the only areas that were ripe but I found them all the way up to 4,200’. I didn’t have a spotter with phone attachment so my pictures suck but I’ll throw one up anyway
.
If you’re into berries I hope you get a chance to get out while they’re going! I’ll be picking my buns off this week!
