Another Hotrod….

Not that I need another bamboo Hotrod…..but I made another shorty, 5’7” 4-5 weight. I used the tip and mid section from a longer rod, kept the metal ferrules because they’re in good shape. For the grip I used a piece of black bamboo, wine cork reducer/winding check, a stacked bamboo reelseat I made w/Ray Lee hardware. Lite wire snake guides, amber colored stripping guide, brown wraps with red trim. I’ll post some pictures soon…..

Let's see a picture!! Sounds cool!

5'7"?! Is this for leprechauns on an overgrown creek? : ). I remember casting a beautiful boo rod at our bamboo gathering on the Metolius. Maybe 4'. The builder was a friend of Dave's. Amazing how well it cast within 20 ft. Small stream specialist.

Maybe I'll have you help me make a Hotrodz out or that bamboo gear rod I got recently! I have other pieces around to you can have if you want them. Just have to find them this weekend!

I gave Jake W a bamboo rod I refinished and cleaned up today! I 9' 4/5 wt 3 piece. Pretty much the same color scheme and color of the bamboo. It's sloooow, very slow, but will be fun for him to mess around with! I suggested a Cortland Sylk line, but any 5 wt double taper would work!

I'm building a 7'6" rod with Mike! Hope to be planing the pieces by the end of the week, if not earlier! I should start working on my 4wt blank too.. want to get it done, a graphite rod, so I can fish it in a few months if not sooner! I switched over to even numbered rods a while ago, bamboo rods are the exception!
