Grilling salmon (other methods also allowed for discussion) - your go-to recipes and techniques

I like to place the fillet on aluminum foil, then stir up a Mayo, crushed garlic, chopped onion and Parmesan cheese mixture and coat over the top of the fillet. Develops a nice brown crust and complements the flavor of the fish. Agreed on don’t overcook.

    Indicator fishing / Stillwater

I’m new to still water fishing and really don’t have much of an idea how to effectively fish this technique. Have watched a bunch of how to videos, just haven’t had the patience to try it out as stripping leeches have been pretty effective for me. Guess it would have been nice to have a 4th...

Shout out to Mitch at Two Rivers Fly Shop

Two Rivers is a great shop. Since I don’t tie flies, Mitch tied up a couple dozen fires for me that I had been unable to find on line. Offers great advice and has a nice supply of “stuff”. Support your local fly shop!!!

    Solo fishing

I frequently fish solo. Have a SPOT communicator for cell dead zones, however my iPhone now has satellite connectivity and I’ve started using that instead of SPOT. I have DeLorme state atlas’ for everywhere I fish. I leave at home and mark the areas I’m going to be fishing. If I head somewhere...

New Tools/Apps from your PNW crew - Time to test!

I signed into the river conditions app earlier today on my IPad. While sign in was pretty easy I was confused when it took me back to the App page and I had to click the App button to open the App, vs going straight into the App from the sign in. Found it pretty straight forward to move around...

    Hot Sauce

Recognizing that everyone’s idea of what’s to hot/spicy is different, I prefer something that doesn’t scald my throat, clear my sinus’ and make my eyes water lol. Here are a couple of mildly hot sauces I use regularly.

Looking for info on Watermaster Grizz Value

Been one for sale on Facebook marketplace recently here in Northern Oregon. Similar to what you’re describing, but a little older and the plywood in the seat platform is cracked. It’s been listed for $650 for several weeks. I just sold one that was about 12 yrs old (I bought it used) for $450...

SFR New used truck - potentially

@flybill - if you go this route look closely at its maintenance records. How often did they change the oil, did it have any problems, etc. Highly recommend you change the oil at least every 5k miles. Heat through degraded oil is a killer for turbos. Oil changes are cheap insurance. And consider...

    Small Waterproof Hip Packs?

https://www.yeti.com/bags/bags-accessories/18060132042.html Not sure if you’d like a “satchel” style, but these waterproof bags from Yeti work well. They offer a 6L and 3L. I have a 3 and it works great for how I use it. I think you could refrigerate it as a waist pack if you wanted. I picked...

    FS Rod building jig

Selling a CRB rod building jig for $300 This is a great set up. Comes with a 4 spool thread holder, a flexible magnifying light, an extra base plate with rod supports, an alcohol burner and a motor with chuck for drying. This works great, I’ve built a couple of rods with it and now it’s time...

    12ga pump shopping

Word of caution on the BPS. Make sure you dry it thoroughly and don’t leave in a gun case if damp. It’ll rust. Was a big surprise when it happened to me.

Not just local fly shops are closing (not that Orvis is anything but a clothing store now)

@Porter2 they used to be over at Bridgeport Village. They are now just east of I5 off Kruse Way headed towards Lake Oswego

Not just local fly shops are closing (not that Orvis is anything but a clothing store now)

I’m an old white guy! I like physical stores where folks can explain and show me things. I have had excellent customer service at the Lake Oswego Oregon Orvis store - their fishing advice and support has been spot on. Have a bunch of their upland and fishing clothing and so far it’s been top...

How did you end up in your career?

Took an environmental biology class in high school and we studied fish and wildlife and environmental conditions. Decided I wanted to be a wildlife biologist. Off to Oregon State and graduated in mid-70’s. By the grace of God I got a job with ODFW and had a 40 yr run. Was an absolute blast. Pay...

ParkIt 360 (or similar) powered trailer dolly experiences?

My fishing buddy has a ParkIt and it’s awesome. He wishes he had bought it about 10 yrs sooner. It allows him to get his boat in/out of a tight fitting space in his shop. Couldn’t safely do it by himself without risk of injury. Very easy to put the boat right where he wants it. Uses the trailer...

Old fishermen w// bad eyes, do you prefer polarized readers or a separate pair of readers?

I have and wear both progressive and bifocal glasses. Have no problem wading with either one. I have also used the flip down magnifiers in the past but have to admit they did cause my eyes to get confused trying to figure out what/where to look thru the lenses in order to see the 6x tippet and...
