    Shops newsletters, reports and... hotspotting?

I haven’t been on this forum much, but I heard about this thread. Then I got curious and read some of it today. I don’t know if it has been mentioned, but the newsletter was started a long time before the shop changed hands. When it started a guy was hired to write a weekly report. He wrote...

SFR Mailing or shipping fly rods

I recently shipped a 4 pc fly rod in its metal tube, packed in my cardboard cylinder tube at UPS. It costs $54 to ship from Portland to Arizona. It would have been much less shipped in a box. But, If I purchased their box it would have been about the same. USPS for sure, if there is a next time.

    Intermediate/clear camo lake lines?

I fish a full intermediate Cortland camo line sometimes, but I prefer the Cortland intermediate 7 ft sink tip line. It’s particularly effective when fish are feeding near the surface. I like it because I can cast to fish, then strip retrieve the fly 10-20 ft. Then pick it up and recast.

    Echo trout X … been

I briefly cast a 9ft 5 at. on the lawn at the Maupin Trout Fest. I thought it was a very nice casting rod for the money.

    Proof fly fishing 5 stars

I’m just finishing the graphite 10 ft 3/4 weight Czech nymph rod. I think, Luna, a fast 8ft. 5 wt. glass rod might be next . Has anyone built either of them?

Leader Formulas: What are you using?

For long leader Dry fly presentation I used Orvis 6ft. braided leaders. They stopped selling them but I found the same leader from a different source and stocked up. Braided leaders are much stiffer than furled leaders. Yes they do spray water, but that reminds me to false cast away from the...

    One Pot Meals

I love Yotam Ottolengi’s style of cooking. His dishes remind me of the food my Macedonian grandmother prepared. Google Ottolenghi One Pot Wonders. I like his Bolognese with Harisa recipe, with the pasta baked with the sauce. The lamb pilaf with sour plums is also very good. However, if you...
