The mom merg is a pretty bird too.

There was silk threads covering the grass at the entrance to the hole. I had another suggestion of a wolf spider.

Very nice. We have had the black-headed grosbeaks show up every year for the past 10 years. Generally late April, early May. Haven’t seen them yet and have fingers crossed! We had a rose-breasted grosbeak a few year back and I was actually able to get a picture. The towhee is great too,

Nice job on that lake. One trip, I hit a lot of fish on chronies fished in 18” of water. It was a hoot. Thanks for the report and pics.
