Lookin' for the Warmwater Slam... (Confluence Fly Shop contest)

My casting tends to be as graceful as an octopus falling out of a tree.

    Panfish

Love me some panfish on the fly. Genuinely one of my favorite ways to fish. Also: https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/threads/lookin-for-the-warmwater-slam-confluence-fly-shop-contest.13767/

    OFFICIAL 2026 NFL SEASON DISCUSSION

I just read a stat that says the Miami Dolphins haven't won a playoff game since the year 2000. Sure, not like I thought the Dolphins were some powerhouse. But dang, 25 seasons and no playoff win? Have they really been that bad for that long? I guess so. The Raiders are not far behind with 23...

    Redemption……return to “Heart Attack Lake”

Hell yes! I love this. One of my fav reports so far this year. A comeback story, beautiful spot, nice fish, and ice cream. Hard to top that.

Lookin' for the Warmwater Slam... (Confluence Fly Shop contest)

Confluence Fly Shop is running a fun low-key contest this month to encourage folks to leave trout alone in the warmest and driest part of the summer and instead, focus on the species that thrive in mudbog bathtub waters. Rules are simple, catch three warmwater species on the fly in one day and...

    Wading Staff for Salt

Can't advise on the salt aspect, because I mostly fish freshwater. But I've been using a set of Black Diamond Distance Z foldable trekking poles for a few years now. I have the cheaper aluminum version, though carbon is available. I bought the adjustable length version since I figured that would...

Which booties for lightweight float tube hiking?

I know that some of you guys use neoprene booties over your wader feet as a lightweight option for flippers instead of hiking in wading boots or carrying both boots and hiking shoes. Which booties do you like and how far past your normal shoe size do you have to upsize so that stockingfoot...

    Caddis Nevada Opinions and Reviews

For anyone looking for this tube and not finding them in their local Costco. It looks like Amazon's price for the Caddis Nevada moves between $89-99 or so. A pretty good deal for quick to-your-door delivery. Even at the $99 price, I might pay the $10 to avoid an extra Costco trip. Caddis Nevada...

    OFFICIAL 2026 NFL SEASON DISCUSSION

I thought this was interesting enough that it deserved its own thread, but wanted to post here as well: https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/threads/this-is-a-wild-story-a-playboy-nfl-agent-was-in-line-to-run-the-seahawks-then-came-the-crossbow-killing.13730/
  13. Josh

NFR This is a WILD story: "A playboy NFL agent was in line to run the Seahawks. Then came the crossbow killing"

I don't recall any of this from when it happened. Maybe it wasn't in the news, maybe I just forgot? But it's an extremely wild story to read today. My takeaways? Every one of the main subjects seems to be an absolutely terrible person. And that obviously includes Ken Behring, even if just...

Any Pass Lake locals/Gurus want to fish Monday or Tuesday?

Worth noting for anyone heading to Pass: Summer traffic around Deception Pass bridge is HEAVY right now and causing some amount of stop/go slowdowns from a few miles before Pass through to the Whidbey side of the bridge. In addition, construction of a new roundabout at the Hwy 20 + Campbell Lk...

Sinking bass lines, how fast? (sink tip or full sink)

Yeah, I'm mostly thinking shallow-ish largemouth fishing. I don't think I have the patience to deal with deeper smallie fishing on the fly. I hardly have the patience to wait for a light ned rig on a spinning rod to drop 20+ feet. This is an interesting aspect I had not considered.

Sinking bass lines, how fast? (sink tip or full sink)

For those who fish bass subsurface, how fast of a sink do you like for your sink tip or full sink fly lines? 3ips? 5ips? Some magic number that I'm too clueless to comprehend? I am not historically a subsurface bass guy. If I'm fishing for warmwater fish with a fly line, it's almost always a...

    Poor Man's 8ft Hopper

A cheap used trolling motor and a Lithium battery would be an impactful but relatively inexpensive upgrade. I don't know how sturdy those benches are or if you can drill into them to mount something like this "Jon Boat Seat Clamp", but worth looking into. Then maybe one of these low back folding...

    Kodachrome 64

+ 1 to this. Went through a lot of Provia back in the day. Some Velvia, but it could easily, as you note, turn images cartoony.

    Kodachrome 64

I was always a Fuji shooter in my slide era. I long ago realized that I liked the idea of Kodachrome more than the reality I saw when I used it. Low exposure latitude, slow ISO, and complex processing with limited lab options (even in the pre-digital era). That said, when Kodachrome works, it...

Has anyone made cased sausage? Worth the trouble?

So much good info in this thread. I'm still trying to research it all. Watching some youtube videos on the process to understand what I'd be getting myself into if I took @Gary Knowels up on his very kind offer. Next step is probably seeing if there are any butcher shops in the area who might...
