    Dumped Rod

Consider using a foam floatie. I’ve lost a rod or two out in the lake, but none since using the foam. Three for $5 with the boating stuff in Walmart. That foam orange thingy will float a road and a heavy reel.

Adult Dragonfly and Damselfly Pattern Recommendations

The foam damsel dries work great on windy days when there is wave action, even whitecaps. The braided butt damsels can work better when the surface is flat. Worst of all are those days when the trout are taking adults 1-2” above the surface. Often, dries work well when there is some surface...

Sea Run Cutthroat in rivers. What's your jam?

The Pistol Pete was my favorite on the Cowlitz back when it was overstocked with cutthroat. Size 8, black with a red tail.

Gear Review Ross Colorado LT flat spring

I have the original version which they call the LT as well as the newer Colorado. I like them both. The new model has more support between the spool and the reel body and there are two screws in the plate that retains the spring/pawl. It seems a little more robust than the original. It’s a...

Gear Review Ross Colorado LT flat spring

I like the reel and admire the design and simplicity of the mechanism but the flat spring for the pawl gave out a few days ago and there’s not much information about the issue on the Ross site. I did notice that several of the PNWFF contributors had commented on the problem on the old website a...

    Name this mayfly

Thanks for your input. I’m inclined to consider the Hex as a lake species. Taxon, Sculpin Swinger, and Cabezon are offering better possibilities without being able to examine a specimen.

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

Lived and camped down there from 1973-81. In good weather, slept under the stars on the slickrock. Bugs and snakes don’t live there. In campgrounds, sleep on the picnic table. During bad weather, I used a tent with an external frame. It did blow away a few times until I learned to put the...

    Brasshead black leech at Pass

Ive been tying them on a 60 degree jig hook with 10wraps of lead behind the bead because most of the time i fish it under an oros indicator. If i want to retreive or troll i take off the indicator and it still catches fish.
