Wayne, I have a setup like yours, ie. a Super Fat Cat (and I wear an "automatic inflation" Mustang vest also), but I'm curious if the stripping apron interfered in getting out of and away from the tube?

Kind of a different approach, I took some ADS pipe to make a second rod storage/holder and a fitting to drop my Fishin Buddy II in. Not great but it works. Also pretty low profile which keeps from getting too caught up in vegetation when packing or launching.
