Get an Orvis bbs and remove the clicker? It's just a plastic dong held in by 1 screw. It'll leave you with enough drag to prevent backlash. I think most of the click-pawl and caliper click vintage reels have a 'disable-able' click as long as you don't care about drag (which I've never used on <5wt)

I have one of the older Cabelas CGR 7ft 4/5 and fish it with an old orvis WF5 line. Fish in the 4-5" range are fun and put a bend in it. This 10" rainbow bent it deep and I thought I was gonna lose it. The only thing that would make me like this rod more is if it was 4pc so it packed smaller...

Interesting that guy carried his flies pretied. Lately I've tried carrying a few flies pretied on 2ft of tippet. They get loop to loop'd to my leader. Seems to work if the flies are small. I did it with one of clarkman's bull trout streamers and it was difficult haha Anyone have a cool idea...

I ordered components from Proof for a bamboo restoration last night and got a shipping notice in the morning.

I use my carbon 9' 5wt with a small spinning reel and weighted jigs off the pier. Works well when squid are around!
