Seemed like high slack lasted forever this morning. A 6am slack tide is tough because you really don’t get into the good fishing until closer to 7. Which on a super sunny day can be a real buzzkill - thankfully today was perfect weather.

Thought today I’d be leaving with nothing but a participation trophy, but I wisely stopped for a Villebilly breakfast at the Hansgrill and thought through my options. Thankfully beach 3 produced. Plenty of rezzies around, which is good because I was horribly inefficient at keeping them hooked...

If push comes to shove on the catching front I’m sure I’ll try a jig setup at some point. Love jigging almost as much as fly fishing.

If I remember right you’ve had some shitty encounters recently with low situational awareness trollers running up on you because they don’t understand that you’re mooching. I’m sure that doesn’t add to the stoke.

Who alls getting out there on Thursday? I’ll be fishing a top secret point with a few dozen of my best friends. Getting toward the most wonderful time of the year (August-September).

It’s a good time. Roll out of the tent and fish the daybreak hours, take a nap, do some low-prospect afternoon wet wading and casting, go get some coffee then hit it hard again until sunset. Depending on the State Park, you might have to suffer through hours of “the sound of freedom” overhead...

Ok, that’s really helpful, because fouling was my other big concern. I’m not one of those people who can tie foul-free flies it seems. I pretty much exclusively fish a stinger clouser for coho because I get so tired of worrying about fouling on every cast. If you’re telling me that going 100%...

How much are folks fishing stinger flies, especially while trolling? Anyone tried a two hook fly, front + stinger? I never do a two hook setup with salmon because of frequent shaker/bycatch/unclipped encounters, but would have no compunctions fishing it for tuna.
